Mental breakdowns and football

I stood there staring into the mirror, tears streaming down my face. The feeling I had right now was a mix of anger and pure self hatred. How did he not notice how hard I was trying to show him I had changed. I wanted Stephan to forgive me for all the horrible things ive done, especially to him. I wanted his forgiveness, but then I remembered, I spent 76 years in hell. Neither of the Salvatore brothers even batted an eye. I looked into the mirror, what I saw was pathetic. "Are you okay in there love" I hear Enzo say, knocking on the door with only one knuckle. I feel everything I've kept bottled up about to come spilling out of me, All the things that that man did to me, the nights I had to stay up and listen to Enzos screams, and the night he took something from me that I could never get back. I slide down the wall, trying with everything inside me not to burst out sobbing. I haven't actually cried since we escaped from Augustine. "Anna are you alright, gorgeous" I hear Enzo say again, this time more concerned. I stay quiet. I know the second I say something I'm gonna lose it. I take a deep breath. "I'm fine my love" I say in the most even voice possible. "Just open the door" he replays in a soft voice. I do as he says and open the door. "What's wrong" Enzo says looking down at me, running his thumb across my cheek. I don't say anything. All I want to do it lay in his arms and cry. He's the only one who's been there for me. I feel so guilty crying in front of him knowing that he's gone though all the same things as me. Enzo pulls me into a hug, holding me tightly. "I'm so sorry" I croak out. "Anna, what on earth do you have to be sorry for." Enzo says baffled. "I... I know you shouldn't have to be dealing with this, you've gone though..." he interrupts me... "you and I have 2 completely different ways of coping with what happened to us. I will never be upset with you for crying. I was actually concerned that you were taking it so well" he says not breaking eye contact with me. "Cause I know I feel like a complete mess on the inside." He finishes. "You do?" I say grabbing the back of his neck. Enzo nods, biting his lower lip and looking away. I pull his face back down forcing him to look at me. He looks like he wants to cry. I grab both sides of his face and give him a small kiss. He gives me a weak smile before walking me to the bed and laying down. I crawl into bed and snuggle up next to him. All the tears that had gathered behind my eyes begin the fall. Enzo from now on will be the only person to see my soft side. I can't show weakness anymore. I turn and burry my face into Enzos neck. He grabs the back on my head hard, I feel a few tears drip onto the top of my head. He never deserved to be there. I understand karma sending me there, but not him. After a little while, we both drift into sleep.

The sun coming in through the window wakes me up the next morning. I roll over and shove my head into sleeping Enzos neck to block my eyes from the sun. He wraps his arms around me and holds me tightly. I was about to fall asleep when my phone began to ring. I moan and roll over to see who it is, it's Stephan. I answer it, knowing damn well things are gonna be different around here starting today. "Where are you, people are asking me why you aren't at school." Stephan says, annoyed with me as usual. I laugh. "Stephan, I'm not going to school anymore. I'm not doing anything for you anymore. I realized that I'm perfectly content with leaving you to deal with your own issues." I say smiling. "You're being dramatic Anna, we cant have you going back to your old ways." Stephan says sighing. "No YOU can't have me going back to my old ways. I'd actually prefer it, Damon probably would too. Anyways have a good day at school." I say hanging up the phone and rolling back over. "What was that about" Enzo says in his cute sleepy voice, his eyes still not open. "Oh nothing my love, I'm sorry for waking you." I say cuddling up next to him. Enzo smiles and takes a deep breath in though his nose. I sit up and stretch my arms, "we should probably be getting out of bed now" I say stretching. "I'm hungry, you got anything in there." Enzo says, reaching over and undoing my bra with one hand. I gasp and catch my bra before it manages to fall. "Enzo!" I yell while laughing. "Oh hush" Enzo says pulling me in for a kiss, causing my bra to fall. The kiss heats up, his bare skin tight against mine. I grab his hair in a tight fist, as he lays me down on my back. I love him so much.

Enzo and I have been in bed all day long. "We should get going, don't wanna miss stephans first game" I say with fake enthusiasm. Enzo laughs and stands up to put on his jeans. I do the same and we both go downstairs. The house seems empty so Stephan must've already left and Damon must be off doing shitty things to good people. Enzo and I walk out the door and get into his car.

The drive from the boarding house to the school is fairly quick. Enzo pulls into the parking lot, the stadium is so loud you can already hear people from inside the car. I open the car door, the cool air feels amazing on my skin. The sun had just gone down, to the stadium lights were on. Enzo quickly walks over to me and wraps one arm around my shoulder, "so are you gonna tell me why we're here" he asks, knowing damn well I didn't just come here to support Stephan. "Thought I would show Stephan what happens when you disrespect me." I said smirking. "Poor lad, been there" Enzo says joking. I smile and walk behind the stadium where everyone is gathered. I stand there for a moment looking around. I see the cheerleaders, but elenas not with them. Then I turn to look at all the other student and see her among them. She must've quit, I thought to myself. Then I see Stephan, he has a jersey on and is standing with the rest of the team. That's when I hear arguing coming from behind me. I turn around as a tall handsome kid throws a punch at one of the football players. "This is gonna be good" I whisper to Enzo, giggling. The two kids roll around for a bit before Stephan grabs the football player and pulls him off the hot guy. The hot guy goes to hit the football player with a glass bottle, misses and gets stephans hand. "Oop" I say covering my mouth. Elena runs up to Stephan to make sure he's okay, but of course his vampire body had already healed the cut by the time she ran over there. "Let me see your hand, is it bad" Elena says to Stephan worried. I then run over to Stephan, "yah steph, are you okay! I saw him cut your hand it was bleeding pretty bad." I say, pretending to be concerned. "No, I'm fine, he missed, see." Stephan says holding up his hands, no cuts. "I saw it, he cut your hand." Elena says, confused. "Nope he missed, but kickoff is about to start I have to go." Stephan says kissing Elena, right before she runs off to talk to the hot guy. Must be her brother or something, I think to myself. "What are you trying to do" Stephan says to me, angry. I shrug and walk away, smiling.
