His voice was of teasing. They remembered their early conversation. She looked down. She was not used to him teasing her. She didnt want him to be the only one making efforts to mingle so she looked up.
"I have very high expectations about our first date. " Mustering enough courage she told him. He was surprised to see this side of hers. A demanding side. He wanted to find out more about her.
"And what are you expectations?"
"Thats for you to figure out." Her eyes lit up on her own suggestion.
"Okay" he laughed at her. He found her cute. He then leaned in and kissed her forehead. Her eyes went wide with his sudden action.
Shaking his head at the way she blushed he left for the office. He was gone for only 2 minutes and she was already missing him. She went inside to see that katheejah and imran were seated, sipping their tea, having a talk.
She sneaked inside her room. She didnt want to bother them. When she entered the room she was shocked. It was so messy.
Wet towel on the bed, files carelessly tossed on the study table, different kind of shoes laying near the foot of the bed, the water spilled near the bedside table.
She shook her head at his habits and started cleaning his mess. What surprised her was that she didn't get angry. She felt delighted to clean his mess. She wanted to please shayan.
Once she had cleaned the mess she took a bath. She sat in front of the dressing table and looked at herself. She had a different glow on her face. The one that newly wed girls have. She picked up her comb and combed her hair.
Her hair was still wet. She didnt like blow drying it. So letting her hair drip water she walked to her bed and sat down. It was 10 in the morning and she had already finished all her work.
Right then her phone ringed with an incoming call. She looked at the caller ID to see her aunt had called her. With excitement and happiness she answered her call.
"Assalamu Alaikum ma" she greeted her.
"Walaikum Assalam beta. How are you?"
"Im good. How are you?"
"Alhamdulillah good."
"Hmmm" ayah hummed in response. Despite their silence they were comfortable enough.
"So how is married life?" Ayhesha broke the silence. The mention of her married life brought a smile to her face.
"Its good Alhamdulillah. Im very happy." She exclaimed. She was indeed very happy. If anyone close to her looked at her now, covered with blush they would surely know how happy she is.
"Thats very comforting to hear. How is katheejah?"
"She is good." Right then I heard eram in the background.
"Wait eram is talking." Aysesha handed the phone to eram.
"Hey. How are you?"
"Assalamu Alaikum to you too eram." Eram smiled sheepishly.
"Walaikum Assalam. So how is bhaiya?"
"He is good. Gone for work." Ayah felt disappointment surge through her. She remembered the day after marriage when everyone wanted him to take a leave from work he had denied straightaway. He said he had work and couldnt afford to take holidays. At least not now.
"Yeah dont mind him ayah. He is a workaholic."
The both friends chatted to no end. About everything and nothing. Ayah silently whispered Alhamdulillah to Allah for blessing her with so much.
