"Why do you think there's something going on between Luke and I." I say to Val. My eyes wide with fear. "How does she know ? Was it obvious? " I thought to myself. "Oh come on Ash we've know each other's forever. I know there is something going on." "There's nothing going on between us." I try to sound convincing but there's a hint of doubt in my voice. "You're lying Ashley." "I am not." There's anger in my voice at this point. I'm not mad at Val, I'm mad that I'm not convincing her. If she knew about Luke and I things won't ever be the same between us. "Fine then look me in the eye and tell me there is nothing going on between you and Luke." I looked straight in to Val's eyes. Trying my hardest to keep a straight face. I know that she already knows I'm not telling the whole truth. Keeping eye contact I open my mouth and say "There is nothing going on between Luke and I." After the words escaped from my mouth the eye contact remains "Okay I believe you."
There was a moment of silence that filled the room. It was broken when Val began to speak again "Here let's watch some movies. I got your favorite." She walks over to to basket of movies right next to the TV and hold up some of my favorites. The Notebook, Dear John, The Last Song. "Nicholas Sparks marathon is something I can definitely see myself getting into right now." I make my way over to the tv and sit down in one of the two bean bag chairs lying on the floor. Val put one of the movies into the DVD player and took a seat next to me in the other bean bag chair.
