"Good morning class! We have a new student today, her name is Krystal. Everyone welcome Krystal!" Ms.Miller said, who is a six grade teacher. "Hi!" The kids said. I stood there motionless, staring at 19 pairs of eyes waiting for me to respond. "Hi!" I replied them and give them a bright smile. "Alright, you can take a seat next to James the boy in blue." She told me. I nod at her politely and walk over to take a seat.
Instead of listening to the teacher, I spent the whole morning looking around the room and study each person. From time to time, James would poke me and ask me questions. I tried to ignore him and focuse on my thing. Finally it's time for lunch. As I sit down a lot of kids came over and asked me questions.
"Where are you from?" A kid asked.
"China." I respond.
"How long have you been here?" Another kid asked.
"Three years."
"Do you speak chinese?"
"Yes."
"Can you speak in chinese now?"
"Sure!"I smiled.
"ni hao!" I said in chinese.
"What does that mean?"
"It means 'hi' in chinese." I replied.
Later, several kids asked me for my schedule.
