4 Years later
"Come one baby it's time for school!"
"Coming mommy!"
As I wait for my son to get his stuff for school, I grabbed my keys, my purse, and my paper work. While I was getting my things I heard small footsteps running down the hallway. Malachi ran up to me in a rush, standing in front of me he was smiling. It's so cute when he smiles, it had me smiling with him.
"Ok, you ready for your first day?!" I asked him
"Yes!" He replied happily
As I opened the door Malachi ran out to the car. I locked the door behind me and got inside the car. I looked at the time that said 8:46. I realized that I'm suppose to be at work at 9:00. Immediately I crunk up the car and drove off, dropping off Malachi off at school.
When I made sure Malachi was good with everything, I've noticed how late I was to work. I ran out to my car and drove off to work.
When I made it to work I got a call from my work phone, it was my boss, he called me to his office. When I arrived there he told me to close the door and sit down.
"Now, Ms. Layton, how many times do I have to bring you in here about your tardy-ness-" he exclaimed while finishing some of his work.
"I know Mr. Scott I'm so sorry! It's Malachi's first day and I wanted to make sure he was ready and-" I said being cut off with my heart pounding.
"Ms. Layton, I do hope you realized that you use your son as an excuse every time you're late for work." He said with his arms crossed and an eye brow up.
"What is that supposed to mean?..." I asked with a annoyed tone to my voice, crossing my arms.
"I'm saying your excuses are getting old, at least come with something else that more important, other then your son" he said rolling his eyes.
I looked at him with a shocked and disgusted look on my face. How dare he talk about my son like that. I uncrossed my arms and slowly put my hands on the arm rest of the chair.
"Excuse me? That is my son you're talking about!! And my son is very important, way more important then you and this job you barely even pay much for me or any other black people in this Industry!" I said while standing up walking closer to his desk.
"I'd advise you to watch what you say Layton..." He said with a little hint of annoyance in his face and voice.
"No! Cause I'm sick and tired of you and the other white people here bossing me around like I'm they're or your slave! I'm not just gonna sit here and let you talk down on me OR my son I'll be damned." I said almost yelling at him, not even caring that he's my boss.
Right when Mr. Scott was just about to speak I spoke again.
"And before you even say anything else..."
I took my badge off and slammed it on his desk, then forcefully slid all of his work and papers on the floor.
"I quit. And it's MS Layton to you." I walked out and slammed his door and as I was walking in my office I saw other people looking at me confused wounding what happened.
