Ive always wanted to become a knight. My father was a knight, my mother was a knight, and my older brother is a knight. I want to help my kingdom, just like the rest of my family has. But the king says I cant become a knight. He never tells me why, but I think I know the reason.

My other personalities.

They always get in the way of everything. So some stupid other voices in my head are preventing me from living the dream of any kid in Pahkitew. It stinks.

There's five of them. I can't help it. They just come out whenever their trigger happens.

But whatever the King says, I will become a knight. Even if I have to train myself and prove that I can fight.

"Mike, can you come in here and help me please?"

I looked up from my book and into the kitchen, where my grandmother was taking a new batch of pastries out of the oven. I got up and met her in the kitchen.

"What can I do?"

My grandmother looked up and smiled. "Ah. Sky and Dave put in an order, and I need you to get their basket together."

I nodded. "Sure."

I took a straw basket from the table and some red-and-white checkered napkins and lined the basket with them. My grandmother passed me some pastries, croissants and blueberry scones. I placed them all in the basket neatly, and then lastly, picked some fake flowers from a vase and stuck them in the back of the basket, completing it.

"There. Is there anything else that needs to be put in there?" I asked. My grandmother shook her head.

"Would you mind dropping that off to them?"

I shrugged. "I guess not."

I took the basket of pastries and left our house, the warm sun greeting me. I saw my friend Cameron sitting on the stairs of his house reading a book and scribbling a few notes onto a piece of paper. I walked over to him.

"Hey Cam. How are you?"

He looked up and adjusted his glasses. "Hello Mike. I'm fine thank you. How's everyone else?"

I knew he was talking about my other personalities. "I don't know. I think their okay. They haven't come out yet today."

Cameron nodded. "That's good. Where are you taking that?" He pointed to the basket.

"To Dave and Sky."

He smiled. "That's nice."

I waved and continued on my way. Cameron had no desire to become a knight. Or maybe it was because his mother was very overprotective of him, and didn't want him to get killed in battle like his older sister had. Either way, Cameron seemed happy.

Sky and Dave's house wasn't very far, so I got there quickly. I knocked on the door, and a yell sounded from inside.

"Oh my god Dave, get the door!"

"I'm not gonna get it! What if it's someone here to kill us?!"

Sky opened the door, and I could tell that she had just finished rolling her eyes. Dave was sitting in a ball on the floor, swaying back and forth. I handed Sky the basket. She smiled.

"Thank you Mike. These look amazing."

I grinned. "I hope you enjoy!"

Sky nodded. "We will. Thank you."

She closed the door.

"See Dave? It was just Mike."

"Better safe than sorry..."

I left for home, witch doubled as my grandmother's bakery. As I got closer, I noticed that my older brother, Duke, had arrived back home from training. He was just about to be knighted in a few days. I should have been being knighted with him...

"Good morning Duke."

Now, my brother and I didn't have the strongest relationship, as most brothers do. Or maybe most brothers have a relationship just like ours. I wouldn't know. I couldn't really explain why we didn't have a good relationship. It was just not as strong as I would have liked it.

Duke looked down from his horse at me and raised an eyebrow. "What do you want?"

I shrugged. "Just saying hello, like the kind, caring brother I am. And the brother you wish you could be."

Duke sniffed and got off his horse, tying it to the house, as it began to munch on the hey that we had put in an extra flower box.

"The brother I am is just fine. You wish you could be getting knighted, but you can do that, because you've got other problems to worry about."

I squinted, trying not to get angry. When I'm angry, one of my other personalities come out. But, I couldn't stop it, and I took a deep breath, leaning back.

"You think we're a problem young man? I'll show you who's a problem in Mike's life, and it's certainly not us!" Chester grumbled. Duke just smirked and stood there, arms crossed.

"I dare you, old man."

Chester shook his hand at Duke, witch was almost like his 'signature move'.

"Stop fighting kids!" My grandmother called from inside. Chester took a deep breath again, and I was back.

"Sorry grandma!" Duke called inside. He chuckled. "You better get a hold of your friends in there, hm?" He tapped me on the head, and made his way inside, snickering to himself.

I stood outside for a minute. Duke was more of a pain in the ass then Chester, Vito, Manitoba and Svetlana are.

I decided to go see Cameron. Sure enough, he was still sitting outside, his eyes darting back and forth between his book and the paper. I sat down beside him.

"Is everything okay Mike?" He asked, not looking up. I shrugged.

"Duke's just being an ass, but that's not surprising."

Cameron looked up from his book and closed it, folding up the paper to use as a bookmark. He adjusted his glasses on his nose. "Did he trigger anyone?"

I nodded. "Chester. But only for a moment."

Cameron adjusted his glasses again. They where always falling off his nose.

"Cam, you're smart right?"

"You could say that."

"Do you think there's any way I could stop my personalities from coming out? If I could trap them in my brain forever?"

Cameron bit his lip. "I don't think that's a good idea. Remember when we tried something like that last time?" He leaned closer to me. "Mal took over?"

I gulped. I did remember. Mal was the worst out of all of them. "What can we do then? They're all such a big pain."

I knew that they could hear what I was saying, and I knew that they would all be annoyed. I did care for them, but they where getting in the way of me doing what I want to do.

"I think you've just got to get used to them Mike." Cameron said. I shrugged.

"I guess so."

We sat in silence for a few more minutes until I stood up.

"I should go home. My grandma wanted my help with something this afternoon."

Cameron smiled. "Okay. Good luck."

I smiled back, and left for home.

I don't care if my personalities are getting in the way of me becoming a knight. I'll show Duke. And he'll be sorry he ever doubted me. Everyone will be.
