Why can't everyone ever just slow down?
If we were all to just pause
For only a second
Maybe we could try and help each other and ourselves
I can't change who I am
I can't change the past
I'm unsure about the future
Hardly anything makes sense
Eat
Drink
Breathe
Live
Repeat
Everything is made of repetition
We memorize the past so that it won't happen again, or repeat
But the key to memorization is repetition
So where does that put us?
We're destroying the world we live in
The ozone is slowly deteriorating
And as the years go by out dear planet earth is slowly
Oh, so slowly
Getting closer to the sun
It's an inevitable hell either way
We destroy the ozone and we burn to a crisp
Or we let the earth slowly
Oh, so slowly
Move us closer to our death by the very thing
That keeps us alive
And everyone is afraid of death
Yet no one ever does anything to try and delay it
Because everyone is afraid of standing out
Being different is seen as
"Weird"
"Strange"
They call us
"Freak"
"Loser"
"Weirdo"
And while it may be commonly heard that
"Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me"
People underestimate the power of language
"Actions speak louder than words"
But to form a word is an action
An action that can cause devastating damage
One person can only take so much
But no one will admit that
Depression
Anxiety
Panic
Fear
Are all nonexistent in a world
Of perfect people
Living
Perfect lives
Parts of
Perfect families
With
Perfect smiles
Except that world is what is truly nonexistent
This is America
Racist and sexist
I am looked down on
For being born a woman
"Go change"
"You'll look like a boy"
"That isn't very ladylike"
"Be more proper"
"Sit up straight"
"Show it off"
"Cover it up"
"Don't be a slut, no real man wants a virgin"
"Speak only when spoken to"
"Women are to be seen and not heard"
"Marry a rich man"
"All you are is something for others to use"
This is America
Land of the free?
Please.
I could be killed any day for my sexual preference
And gender classification
This is America
Welcome to
Heaven?
No, of course not
Welcome to
Hell
Where everyone is judged and judging
Fit in
Or be forced
Be forced
Or be broken
Be broken
Or give up
Give up
Or fit in
Everyone has to appeal to everyone
But that isn't possible
We as humans are all so unique and beautiful
But so many
Don't know that
This is America
Abuse
Arson
Shootings
Murders
Kidnapping
Rape
Are all expected
This is what has become
"Normal"
This is America
Welcome home
Sons, daughters,
And yet no one stops to think
Of the children
Welcome to
Hell
I'll be your guide
Well, let's get going
Come on inside!
We've got all sorts of torture,
Mental and physical
Verbal and psychological
So many ways to break every one of you
One by one by one
Until one day everyone realizes
That we don't deserve the life we have
If humanity itself were to vanish into thin air one day
It would take approximately
200,000,000 years
For the earth to erase all traces of our existence
Think about that instead of
Which person
Should fall next
Instead of falling
We could all rise
And hope to fix the damage we've done
Oh
But I'm just a woman
Just another helpless slut spouting sentimental nonsense
Don't listen to me
After all
We'll all die eventually
Either way
