"Ok and what should the arms look like?" Phil asked, smiling at his laptop. "Well Sophie said Squid tentecals so lets draw those on!"
Phil was doing his weekly live show on Younow and was playing his favourite game, which was creating a monster using the viewers ideas.
"Ok guys we're nearly done so is there anything else you want to add?"
Before Phil had a chance to read the chat he heard the living room door open and looking up he saw Dan standing in the doorway with takeout menus in his hand.
"Phil babe, do you want pizza or chinese for dinner?" Dan asked, clearly not realising that Phil was in the middle of his live show.
"Um, Dan..." Phil said.
"Yes lion?" Dan asked innocently, still not realising what was going on.
"I'm sort of in the middle of something here..." Phil half whispered, hoping no one watching the show could hear him.
"what do you mean?" Dan asked worriedly as he walked over to Phil and his laptop.
When Dan saw the screen he nearly burst out crying but instead he swore. A lot. It was clear that the people watching the show had heard everything. The chat was moving faster than he could read, he could only make out the occasional "OMG" or "I KNEW IT" before it just looked like random letters because of the speed. There were also lots of little camera icons in the chat as well which showed that people were taking screenshots.
"STOP SWEARING DAN!" Phil shouted. He never liked swearing, especially infront of fans.
"WELL I CAN"T HELP IT!" Dan shouted back. He began crying then. Full on crying which made huge tears fall out of his eyes and his hands shake uncontrollably.
Phil got up, closed the laptop and hugged Dan. They stayed in the hug for a few minutes, Dan holding onto Phil tightly in an effort to stop the tears.
Although that failed when a minute later Phil said "I'm sorry. I know you didn't want this" which made Dan cry even more.
Phil was right though. He knew he was as whether they should tell people was one of the first conversations they had as a couple. Phil was okay with telling people but Dan was against the idea. He wanted their relationship to just be between them. They put so much of their lives on the internet that this was the only thing that was private. Dan was also terrified and what his viewers might say. He loved his job and he didn't want anything to mess it up. In the end they agreed to only tell close friends and family as it felt unfair too keep it from them.
Phil looked up at Dan and gently wiped cheeks with his hand. "They know Dan. They heard the converstation, they took screenshots..." Phil said softly, looking into Dan's watery brown eyes.
"OH GOD THEY'LL BE ALL OVER TWITTER BY NOW!" Dan nearly started crying again but Phil caught his face in his hands.
"You've got to be strong, my brave bear. How about we make a video offically announcing it? I know almost eveyone probaly knows by now but at least then it can be our own words. We could talk about when we became a couple and why we kept it a secret and stuff, okay?" Phil said gently.
"Okay." Dan smiled then as he knew how much Phil hated making references to The Fault in Our Stars.
"Shut up" Phil said playfully hitting him on the arm and heading back to his laptop.
"Dan..."Phil said suddenly but very quietly. "I didn't close my laptop properly, they heard everything."
Phil was expecting Dan to be angry but instead Dan smiled and walked over to the couch, took Phil's hand and sat infront of the laptop with Phil by his side.
Noticing the confused look on phils face Dan simply said 'well we might as well tell them now.'
"Hello internet" Dan said to the laptop. "My name is Dan Howell and this beautiful man next to me is my boyfriend Phil Lester. We have been together for a year and a half and I love him so much but I don't tell him often enough" Dan stopped to look at Phil. He had a huge smile on his face and tears began to well up in his eyes. Still looking at Phil, Dan continued. "I'm sorry that we didn't tell you earlier but Phil loved me enough to let me keep it a secret and for that im greatful and i love him even more for it..." Dan trailed off, getting lost in the beautiful blue eyes in front of him.
Phil was softly crying now although the small tears were tears of happiness. Without thinking and forgetting about the thousands of people watching, Dan leaned forward and kissed Phil's soft lips. Phil didn't seem to mind as he leaned into the kiss and wrapped his arms around Dan's waist. In return Dan lifted up his hand to hold Phils cheek and with the other he closed the laptop, successfully ending the live show
