"Lily! Lily wake up! It's Halloween." I hear James knocking on the door. "No!" I yell putting a pillow over my head.
"Can I come in?" He says, opening the door a crack. "Fine." He walks over to my bed and sits down. "Good morning my beautiful Lily." He smiles. At this I sit up. "First of all I am not yours. Second of all thank you." I grin to myself as I lay back down and pull the pillow over my head again. James chuckles to himself.
"You're going to have to get up soon you know." "No I don't. I can stay in bed all day." I say rolling over to face him. "No you can't. We have classes today and you wouldn't want to miss them would you?" He smirks at me and I throw a pillow at his head. "What do you mean? What day is it?" I ask sleepily. "It's Friday." He smiles at me and pulls the pillow out from under my head. "No! I thought it was Saturday." I groan and throw the blanket off of me. "I'm getting up now."
I walk to my closet and pick out my uniform. "What time is it?" I ask while I throw up my flaming red hair into a low ponytail. "It is 8:00." He says grinning at me. "Shoot! I only have an hour!" I pick up my clothes and run to the door. "No, you have a free period first today." He grins at me. "How did you know that?" I turn to him quickly. He smiles even more. "I may or may not have memorized your schedule." "That's very stalkerish you git." I smirk at him as I leave my room, heading for the shower. The warm water feels nice on my skin and after I get out, I dry my hair, put some plain makeup on, and spray on my rose perfume.
The rest of the day is pretty boring and I spend the whole time waiting for the Halloween feast at the end of the day. I have two classes with Marls, and the whole time she looks at me curiously as if she's trying to read my mind.
Finally it's dinner time! The marauders and us girls all walk to the Great Hall as a group. We take our regular seat at the Gryffindor table.
I take a seat between Dorcas and Alice and across from James. And James is sitting next to Sirius and Marls. I take a look around the room and it's even more impressive than last year! There are more bats and floating pumpkins around the room. There are the regular floating candles, but they look more eerie today. There are floating streamers and so much more.
The food in front of us appears and it looks amazing! We all fill our plates and eat. This is the main event at Hogwarts on Halloween. We don't really have parties or dress up. That's for the muggles. But we have an amazing and extravagant feast!
We all are stuffed at the end, except for Sirius and Peter who can eat more than anyone I know. They are always in the middle of eating when the dishes clear themselves and they are always angry until dessert arrives. The same thing happens today. Typical.
We finish eating and head up to the Gryffindor common room together. James and Sirius disappear for a while and show up about an hour later with loads of candy. We eat the candy and sit in a circle on the red and gold rug.
"Ok! So us girls already played this game and now I'm going to teach you guys." Dorcas starts and smiles at me. "We call it the circle game. So first, everyone has to sit in a circle on the floor, which we are already doing. The order this time going clockwise is me, Marls, Alice, Sirius, Remus, James, Dorcas, and then Mary. Dorcas continues talking. "So then, someone chooses to go first and they have to whisper a question to the person on their left. No one else is supposed to hear the question but then the person has to answer their question out loud. It's pretty simple." She finishes and looks around at all of us. We all nod our head, agreeing to play.
"I'll go first!" I say and lean towards Marls to whisper the question. "Name a few things you lovvvvvve about Sirius." I say with a wide grin. Marls smiles at me. "Easy! Funny, hot, loyal, and understanding." "Could you be talking about the amazing Sirius Black?" Sirius says tilting his head to the side and we all crack up. "You'll never know." Marls smirks at him.
Marls leans towards Alice and whispers her question. Alice says, "Yes." Her face heats up and Marls gapes at her in surprise. "Really?! Wow." Alice leans towards Sirius and Sirius answers without hesitation, "James. Obviously." James looks at him, extremely confused but doesn't say anything. The questions keep getting whispered around and when it's their turns, Remus says, "Second year," James turns to me, smirks, and says, "Lily," Dorcas says, "Three times," and Mary says, "He's a Hufflepuff."
Finally Mary turns to me and whispers into my ear. "Do you like someone at the moment." I sigh. "'Yes, I do." James looks at me silently wondering what I just answered to. I shake my head at him as Mary clamps a hand over her mouth in shock. "Calm down!" I hiss at her. "You need to explain." "Not now! Maybe later!" I say, fully aware that I can't really tell her anytime soon. Since it's a Friday and we don't have classes tomorrow we play games and talk until like three in the morning when we all pass out in the Gryffindor common room.
I wake up in the morning and look at my watch. It's 10 already! Oh no, we missed breakfast. I sit up on the couch where I fell asleep and realize my head is leaned against James' chest. I look around the room at my sleeping friends. Marls is sleeping against Sirius on one of the couches. Cute. They're a good couple. Dorcas is draped across one of the fluffy poufs. Alice's top half is on the couch and her legs are across the floor. Mary is curled up on one of the chairs. Remus is curled up on another chair and Peter is nowhere to be seen. James' arms feel really comforting around me but I have to get up. I wouldn't want someone seeing this just yet. I rise from the couch and walk to the Head's room. I pick out a white blouse and a long black skirt. It's sort of fancyish but super comfortable so I don't really care. I pick out a book and decide to head back to the Gryffindor common room and see if anyone is awake.
I walk into my common room with my head bowed over my book and I walk right into something. Not something, someone. "Oh, hi James." I give him a smile and reach up to give him a small kiss. "Hey. Can we talk?" He asks me and we walk to the couch. "What's up?" I ask, a confused look on my face. He sighs. "I think I'm almost ready to tell people about us. I didn't want to at first because this was new and also I knew that Padfoot was going to ask out Marlene and I didn't want to like steal his thunder or anything." He smiles at that. "Yeah, Sirius wouldn't have liked that very much." We both laugh over Sirius's love of being the center of attention. "I'm ok telling them whenever." I smile widely. I'll have to endure the girl's endless taunts but I'll live. "So just let me know when you want to. Also um what exactly are we?" I ask awkwardly. He runs his hand through his hair and stares into the fireplace and then turns and beams at me. "I guess I'm your boyfriend now." I laugh. "That was bold of you." He grins at me and says, "We can tell them today. And we should get back to the others." I take his hand and we walk back to the Gryffindor common room, a light and happy feeling in my heart.
After dinner, we all walk back to the Gryffindor common room and take our seats around the fireplace. "Lily and I have something we would like to tell you." James smiles at his friends. Mary gasps, "Are you getting married?" Alice shrieks. "Oh my Merlin!" I gape at them with wide eyes. "What? No! You're crazy." I throw a pillow at both of their heads. Married?! What the heck? "No, but we are dating now." Everyone stares at us in shock, except Marls and Remus of course.
"How on earth did you manage that?" Sirius asks, obviously confused. "She hated you. Wait, did you use a love potion?" Sirius grins at me and I shake my head. "No! Well I guess she doesn't hate me anymore." James gives me a quick kiss on the cheek. "That was really cringey." Sirius and Marls laugh. "Cringey?" James says, not knowing what this means. "It's a muggle word I taught him." I laugh as I explain. "I'll explain later." Sirius tosses me a knowing smile.
Mary sighs and drapes herself over the couch. "I wish I had a boyfriend. Dorcas, it's just me and you." Dorcas shakes her head, a small smile on her face. "I have a boyfriend." Mary sits up quickly. "You what?!" "August Rowan, Slytherin." Dorcas beams at me. I already sort of knew this. I'd seen them snogging in a few different places on my patrols around Hogwarts. "A Slytherin?!" Mary squeals. "Yeah. But he's not like the others." Dorcas stares off into space dreamily. "Someone's in love!" I call out in a sing-songy voice and receive a pillow thrown at my head from Dorcas. Remus and Sirius snicker at us. "Ok, I'm going to go to bed." I stand up and James takes my hand. "I'll come with you." "To bed?" Sirius raises his eyebrows and smiles cheekily at us. "No you git. Come on Lily." I laugh at Sirius' idiocy and we walk back to the Head's common room together.
