“Marcus, come on! We’re going to be late, you slowpoke.”
I shouted at the closed door of Marcus’ bedroom.
“Geez, I’m coming, mother.”
He counter-shouted. I just rolled my eyes at his sarcastic side comment about me being his mother.
Of course I have to shout at him. It’s almost 8:30 and he’s still dressing up. We’re going to be late for school and it’s like the first day, duh.
“Stop rolling your eyes!”
He said as he opened the door and found me rolling my eyes.
I rolled my eyes again.
“Tsk. I said stop rolling your eyes.”
He covered my eyes. I spat it away and he cried in pain. Weakling.
“Stop being a kid and let’s get out of this house and go to school. It’s like the first day and we’re going to be late if you continue being a kid.”
I said and hurried to the stairs I heard him follow and in no time we’re in front of his car. I hurried inside and soon we’re hitting the road.
“Someone’s excited.”
He said while driving, looking alternately at me and the road.
“I’m not the road, Marcus. And of course I’m excited who wouldn’t? It’s like our last year in High School. How time flies.”
“Yeah, soon we’re going to be in college.”
He sighed and I looked at him.
He’s still handsome as before.
I didn’t know I was staring at him until he stopped the car and looked at me.
“What?” he asked.
“I-I-why’d you stopped?” I asked absentmindedly.
“We’re already in school, silly.” He smirked. “You we’re so busy looking at me you didn’t notice.”
Then his smirked transformed into a grin and transpired into a boisterous laughter.
“No I didn’t!” I defended. “I – I was just thinking of – of things! Yeah, things! Stop assuming!”
I rushed out of the car. I can hear him opening and closing his car door and his laughter. Ugh! Stupid!
“Stop laughing.” I said in a tone where he knows I’m pissed.
“Pffft! O- okay. Pfft!”
“Marcus!”
“Okay, I’ll stop! Sorry.”
He surrendered and walked side by side with me.
I can still feel him grin by my side but I just brushed it away. He’ll look stupid smiling by himself.
We walked the hallways of the school. We’re having the same first period and it would be Grade 12 Calculus. A great first period, right? Yeah, blame it on Marcus!
“Zaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnndddddddddeeeeeeeeeeee.”
I heard a familiar shout coming from somewhere in my back and before I know it I’m fighting for dear life.
“Zandeeee, I miss you bitch!”
“I- I can’t breathe! Ma – Marcus, he – help!”
“Oh, hi Marcus.” She let go of my throat, finally, and faced Marcus.
