Ever since my mom got together with my stepdad things haven't been the same. He started out nice and pleasant he seemed like the happiest man alive at the time, but then there was that one night....
I remember being tucked in at night by my mother and her telling my goodnight and kissing my forehead. Te next thing I knew I was woken up in what I think was the middle of the night. I heard screaming and got scared, so I ran out into the hallway so I could see what was going on. At first I couldn't believe my eyes, but I knew it was all so real when the tears started rolling down my face. My stepdad had my mother by the throat and had her feet dangling off the floor. Without thinking I yelled "MOMMY!" He looked over at me and I ran towards the door my mom shouted for him to leave me alone and for me to go to the neighbors to call the cops, but as soon as I got to open the door my mom told me to stay and go to my room. So I went and I heard them go up the stairs. There was more yelling and then all of a sudden there was a loud crash. I tried my best to hide under my blanket and close my eyes as tight as they could go wishing that this would all just go away. Next they came down the stairs and he yelled some more and then there was another crash and then the sound of my mom crying and the front door slam shut. I ran out into the living room to see my mom on the floor crying she was picking up the pieces from the flatscreen television that he obviously threw onto the ground. I scanned the room quickly and saw that out computer monitor was thrown down the stairs. That explains the two crashes I heard. I then went over to my mother to comfort her while both of us cried our eyes out. She then tucked me back into my bed and told me things would be better tomorrow. Then she left to go finish cleaning up the mess he made if only that I knew that things wouldn't get better they just got much much worse.
