"You packed early?" Baekhyun asked. He was waiting for Seju at his bedroom door when he saw the latter's travel bag and a suitcase beside the study table.
Seju nodded as he grabbed the bag he always bring to work. Baekhyun then moved away from the door, letting Seju go his way, as the older took the honor of closing it.
"Yeah. I figured I needed to pack now if I'm joining the team building. I won't have time later because of the project."
"Oh, right. That's good I don't want you breaking your promise to me that you'll join."
Baekhyun laughed. Seju smiled at him, shaking his head. He remembered promising Baekhyun that he would join as well because Baekhyun wanted him to come. The older was persuaded by Jongin to join, and now Baekhyun made Seju promise he'd also come.
The two hurried downstairs, bidding goodbyes to Shin Hyemi. The old woman followed them to the front door, and the two immediately went inside Seju's car. The temperature outside seemed warmer than a few days ago.
"Sorry you had to go early too. I told you you could choose to go later."
Baekhyun raised a brow at that. Seju was told by Krystal, the project's team leader, to report to work two hours earlier. There was something urgent and important to do that Baekhyun didn't ask about, but all the older understood was he needed to join Seju on going early. Baekhyun didn't like crowds, especially after he had a body again. So he decided he wouldn't want riding a public transportation.
And it was Seju who had a car.
"It's okay," Baekhyun replied. "I don't mind."
Seju started driving. It was still early and the streets look mostly empty, so he figured they would arrive in time. Baekhyun laid his head against the car window, and Seju thought the older decided to catch some z's. But after a few minutes, Seju heard him.
"How's the project going?"
"Oh. It's a bit busy, I guess. There's a lot of things going on right now and there's a lot more to do. But so far, I'm getting by."
"I'm asking about the project, not about you," Baekhyun kidded.
Seju laughed. "It's fine so far. I guess the team would let our department see some of it soon, for opinions."
"Really? I'm excited."
"Me too."
"You're working hard for it, Seju-yah. I know it'll be good." Baekhyun saw them entering the highway, which meant they were arriving soon. "So don't think about it and just enjoy the beach this weekend."
"I will, Baek. Of course."
Baekhyun smiled. He laid his back on the backrest. The ride was smooth and he liked the peace the morning was offering. He liked this kinds of moments with Seju. He realized it was a waste that he let his burden hinder light moments like this. He always looked troubled. Maybe that's why his talks with Seju felt heavy.
And now he wouldn't let it happen again.
Baekhyun decided to open another topic to talk about. "How do team building works these days?" he asked. He had always wanted to ask about this one.
Seju glanced at Baekhyun for a second before focusing his eyes on the road again. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, team buildings exist back in my time."
