His Perfect Love
1 John 4:18
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:
because fear hath torment."
Prologue
May 1885
Pain. The first thing she knew was pain. Bruises and cuts, aching bones and muscles. Agonizing pain. She took one step after another. If she could even call them steps. She was stumbling along, breathing raggedly and could barely move. It felt as though she had been running for hours. Maybe she had been. It was the only means to get away.
It was too dark to see, she had no idea where she was going. The moon wasn't very bright and there were hardly any stars. She kept on walking even if it felt like she was breathing fire, even if she felt like vomiting. She was so tired and her feet ached but she had to keep going. She had to.
She stumbled into something. It felt like wood, but she wasn't sure. Maybe it was a porch beam? But she couldn't know, since it was too dark to see. She felt around it and there were steps. She climbed up them. There was a door, she tried to open it. Her hand grasped a handle but then all of a sudden she felt dizzy. Her hand slipped from the doorknob as she slipped from the world, her body crashing to the ground.
