Prologue
She waited until her husband was out of the room, then with her head high, she swept out of the room. A second later, head even higher, she swept back in, snatched up the money, and was gone again. She knew that what she was doing was dangerous, but the risk of staying was even more so.
Trudging slowly to minimize the noise, she moved in such a snail-paced git towards the garage door, as she hastily grabbed the keys that were hanged near the picture-perfect picture of what was once her family. Clicking the key remote, she prayed that the alarm didn't sound and that her fingerprinted gloves were able to near perfectly mirror those of her husband's. With a sigh of relief, the vehicle opened without a sound. Sluggishly sliding into the front seat of the car, she buckled up and threw the bag full of money and other essentials in the seat next to her.
Reversing the car out of the garage, she took a moment to look back at the house that she had entered with hopes and dreams of a better future, before driving away.
The sound of cooing in the back seat had her rapidly turning her head to what lay in a bundle of blankets snuggled and warmed away from harm. With a sigh of relief, she began to make her way down her mental checklist to ensure that she had everything.
She was now three blocks away from her former home. Deciding it was now or never, the woman had a decision to make.
With her heart racing in anticipation and anxiety, she fished for the device in her purse before she pressed the keypad on the device which she'd secretly coveted from a mercenary. First came the feeling of tremors that ran through the ground. The tremors created a galloping motion that was felt throughout the car as which was forcefully jolted to the wrong side of the road and even the little coo's that was sounding out was quieted as they turned into whimpers of fear. Then came the sound of a massive explosion that not only took her house but those of her surrounding neighbours. Neighbours that she had ensured were on vocation for the foreseeable future.
She knew that she would be a prime suspect now as the sight of numerous police cars raced quickly down the pathway which she had just exited. Despite the knowledge that she would soon be hunted by the humanoid policemen, she paid them no mind as she knew that they would have trouble finding her. Swiftly turning the steering wheel she entered the busy expressway with its numerous exits to become one with the sea of cars.
The woman drove for what seemed to be for hours on end before she was able to reach her destination. Turning into a hidden and seemingly abandoned underground parking area she climbed out of the car with much effort, before reaching for the bundle and carefully caressing it near her warmth as she dawdled towards their next means of transportation.
Gently placing the bundle onto the ground between her feet, she hastily threw the gloves away that were slick with her sweat onto the ground. Opening the car door with her own fingerprints, she was greeted to the sound of a barely audible hissing sound as the door slide up and opened. Placing her bundle into the back seat she made quick movements of buckling the little one and ensuring their safety.
Attempting to briskly walk back to her husband's car she made rushed motions in removing the remaining items from her husband's car and into the other. Turning to the discarded gloves she struck a match and watched as the gloves quickly burned and hid any evidence of her manipulation.
