Campus Love Affair

chapter five

It was the weekend everyone was always hyped for the weekend.  At least everyone but me.

I don't like the hype, the noise, the many bodies. So thinking of a whole weekend alone was pure bliss.

I had made friends at school I wasn't trying to be a social pariah or anything but I knew we weren't close enough to have them come over on the weekend.

" Hey so there's this party at Jason's house wanna come with me."

We still hadn't talked about the elephant in the room and I could feel it growing bigger with the day.

" Yeah I think I sit this one out. Maybe next time."

" Are you still mad at me."

"I was never mad at you. I'm just adjusting. I have nothing against you. You just have to give me some time ok. I'm sorry if I'm being cold or distant. I'm just figuring things out."

" Look I get it. If someone did that to me I wouldn't even be as reasonable as you are now. I'm really sorry. "

She had said that time and again. I just didn't know what to do anymore. I didn't know what to say.

How could I make her feel better when I wasn't even better myself. How could I give her the  forgiveness she was asking for when I couldn't even come to terms with it.

I was so deep in thought I didn't hear her until I heard the door close behind her.

Yeah that's just gonna have to be my secret. So what are you doing this weekend.

Not that it's any of your business but nothing important.

I didn't need to tell him that I was hoping to lounge in my sweats all weekend. Do some laundry 
Get some reading done then Netflix and chill with all my snacks around me.

Well since it's nothing important how about we hang out today.

When I say nothing important I just want you off my case smart guy.

Figured as much, get ready I'll be there in 15 to pick you up.

Ok first of all Bruce almighty you don't know where I live. Second I'm not leaving my room so you can try but you'll just be wasting your time.

We'll see about that.

Of course he had to have the last word. It felt like I was dealing with a manchild.
