Two years after the events of Uglydolls.
Lou couldn't take it anymore, he's been completely alone for so long.
Ox had put him on house arrest, occasionally the rabbit would bring him food, clothes, cleaning supplies, etc. but that became a more rare occurrence over time. Lou spent a lot of time talking to himself, arguing about his past mistakes, his future, and even arguing with himself over how he deserved to be a prototype.
Lou sighed as he climbed on his roof, using his phone he turned a spotlight on himself, and everything around him went dark. The only light was the spotlight on him and lights from other dolls' houses and stores. He adjusted his collar slightly, a small microphone clipped onto his undershirt. "Hello Imperfection" He called out, many dolls glaring at him, most knew him but some newer dolls who didn't were so confused.
"As of today, I've officially been on house arrest for TWO YEARS, as the order of Ox." He explained, then continued. "I know I royally messed up, but I can't do this anymore. I CAN'T BE ALONE ANY LONGER" His voice cracked a bit, this shocked so many dolls, nothing was ever wrong with this voice and now it cracked?
"I don't know what to do anymore. I DON'T EVEN HAVE FOOD IN MY HOUSE ANYMORE! I HAVEN'T HAD ANYTHING BUT WATER IN SIX WEEKS! I cry myself to sleep, I wake up screaming at two AM every night, I can't go in my laundry room anymore" He didn't even realize he was crying, he didn't plan this at all, he just wanted to ask for a chance.
"Every mirror in my house is shattered, I can't even look at myself. All of the robot servants went out last year because I couldn't keep up maintenance. Really, I didn't mean to become such a monster, I was just so heartbroken. All of you, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU, could and CAN go to the big world, and I'm stuck here. I'm just a prototype. I'll never be good enough for the love of a kid. Or anybody,"
His vision blurred with tears, all attention was still on him. Everyone froze and every breath was audible. So many dolls were in shock, many felt bad for him, a lot of them felt he deserved it, but at the same time most felt they'd been too extreme with his punishment.
After a minute of silence, Lou started singing. He stepped to the edge of his roof, his tears drying slightly as he began."I walk a lonely road, The only one that I have ever known." As he sang the roof glew a soft blew color beneath his feet, "Don't know where it goes, but ts only me and I walk alone," He turned to the side, looking at the floor as he stepped away from his audience.
"I walk this empty street, on the boulevard of broken dreams, where the city sleeps, and I'm the only one, I walk alone." He stepped further away before he turned to face the crowd again. He started walking to them again. "I walk alone, I walk alone, I walk alone and I walk a-"
He cut himself off, and moved on. "My shadows the only one that walks beside me, My shallow hearts the only thing that beating" As he sang, the spotlight grew brighter, but then got much dimmer.
"Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me," He reached his hand off the edge of the roof to reach for the other dolls, even if he could never reach from the top of his mansion. "Till then I walk alone" He pulled back and hugged himself, tears beginning to flow again.
He hadn't noticed until now, but his backup singers from before everything had climbed on the roof. Jackson, Joshua, and Thomas, and they sang to, "ah~ ahh ah~ ah, ahh" There was a pause as they smiled at the astonished and grateful Lou, who smiled back at them like he was the luckiest doll in the world. "Ah~ ahh ah~ ah, ahh".
Lou joined back into the singing, approaching the boys, "I'm walking down the line, that divides me somewhere in my mind," He hugged the three, although it was a quick hug it nearly choked the breath out of Jackson. Lou turned back to the audience and he stood on the edge of the roof, the three boys surrounding him.
"On the borderline of the edge, and where I walk alone." Lou sighed heavily as he looked into the crowd, he was covered in his own tears by now, soaking wet. "Read between the lines, whats messed up and everything's alright. Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive, and I walk alone."
Lou continued the song, his backup singers filling in with backup vocals. When he was done he started talking again. "Please, I'm begging everyone here, please, PLEASE let me prove myself. I can change, I HAVE changed, I really just can't stand this loneliness anymore, It's killing me."
The spotlight turned off, and the glow of blue from the roof faded, it took a few seconds but suddenly the crowed erupted in conversation, debates, cheers, arguing. Lou was terrified of going back to living solitarily.
"Lou, after that, that performance! It was so heartfelt, I don't think anyone would have the heart to leave you alone" Joshua said comfortingly, placing a hand on Lou's shoulder. Jackson and Thomas agreed, "He's right, and even if they do, this time we'll be by your side Lou" Jackson told the blonde, who smiled softly, turning off his mic before he spoke. "Thank you boys, that means the world to me."
Lou noticed Ox standing at the bottom of the staircase that leads up to Lou's house, so, the blonde hopped off his roof and onto the porch, landing on his feet easily. The backup singers followed to give Lou emotional support as the four made their way down the staircase, Ox, Moxy, Mandy, Uglydog, Wage, the spy girls, and Nolan all stood waiting.
Lou backed up slightly so he lined up with his backup singers, each giving him a hopeful smile, "Relax Lou, be confident in yourself" Thomas said quietly, Lou nodded and took a slow breath to calm his nerves as he looked down at the green rabbit, Lou having a slightly sheepish look on his face.
"Lou, I hope you know that broke the rules of your house arrest, you really should've waited until I came by again" Ox scolded, Lou huffed slightly, "Please excuse my outburst, but also note you haven't come by ONCE in nearly four months"
Lou was right, and Ox felt a bit guilty about that, but he had been so busy. He never stopped to think to send another doll, or thought about how Lou was doing. "You're right, I'm sorry about that Lou. Your outburst is completely justified." Ox stated, Lou nodded softly. "Thank you".
Moxy put herself into the conversation, "Guys, can we please just note, this doll enslaved an entire line of dolls, tried to kill Ox, Me, and Mandy, kept a HUGE secret from everyone, tried to destroy the portal, and more" She reminded, Lou stepped back slightly at the doll's words, Jackson, Joshua, and Thomas stepping in front of him in case anyone tried anything. The spy girls followed their lead, Kitty and Lydia standing by Lou's sides, and Tuesday next to Lydia.
Ox sighed, already Lou had people willing to follow him blindly, which came as no surprise really. "Moxy your right, but we still have to think about his side of everything and take the entire situation into consideration" Ox was a very fair leader,
Mandy stepped in, "Ox is right Moxy, Lou is stuck here, none of us will ever understand that," She said, pushing up her glasses. Babo and Lucky Bat took Mandy's side, Wage and Ugly dog took Moxys. Nolan didn't know who to agree with, so he spoke on his own behalf.
"Yes, Lou was a nasty liar with dark and cruel motives. He was a bad leader and a horrible motivator, he lied and pushed others aside to get his way" Nolan started, "But he's also just a doll, like the rest of us. We all have flaws, not even Lou is completely perfect. He has a lot on his plate and based on his performance he's very genuine about changing for the better. Yes, he wasn't the greatest, but, as we always say 'Embrace Your Flaws'. What kind of dolls would we be if we oppressed Lou because of his flaws and celebrated everyone else's?"
Lou stared at Nolan in shock, he felt overwhelming guilt over how he had treated Nolan before, and the doll STILL stood up for him. Over the years, Lou had become so fragile to the point he burst into tears for the third time that day, Joshua, Jackson, Thomas, Kitty, Lydia, and Tuesday pulled him into a group hug to calm his emotional self.
Ox took in a breath, contemplating as he took in every side of the argument.
"I've come to a decision" Ox announced.
