When I look at you
When I look at you
I see distaste
You always leave in such haste
I see me, reflected in your eyes
I see me falling for their lies
I see you walking away
Nothing good to say
I see me standing there
Belonging nowhere
What do you see
When you look at me?
Shyness and an innocent look?
Do I do things by the book?
If only you looked further
You might see the real me
The hidden, broken person
Behind that shy façade
The person who’s beginning to fade
What do I see
When I look at you?
I see a tall, dark stranger
I see his eyes piercing blue
I see a player and a cheat
A shame of mine I won’t repeat
Behind that cool shell
I see you’re not doing too well
But I see something there
Behind that wall
A spark, though only so small
Won’t you let me see?
When I look at you
I see me reflected in your eyes
Do I always look so shy?
Please don’t turn away
Just be still, stay
You may not be perfect
But you see, neither am I
You’re perfect to me
If only you’d look and see
The way I look at you
And look at me that way too
