Suga lazily opened his eyes to the empty room. The early morning sun peeked through the curtains drawn over most of the windows. It was probably way too early in the morning to be awake but Suga didn't really have a choice. Once he was awake it took 5 extra strength sleeping draughts to put him back to sleep. It was pretty annoying.

Suga stretched, feeling his back crack. Getting dressed was the easy part. He didn't own many non-school clothes, even though he was allowed to wear them on weekends. He sighed and reached for a set of robes. He wasn't even sure if they were his, but they fit so he didn't care much.

While he fastened the button near his collar, Suga caught a whiff of something familiar. Warm, kinda smoky, definitely Oikawa. With a groan, Suga pulled off the robe and tossed it on his bed. That would have to be washed.

He didn't need anymore reminders of Oikawa. Suga had been doing a pretty good job of not thinking of him, but it was getting a little bit harder. But whenever Oikawa did decide to invade Suga's head, it didn't feel like a punch in the gut anymore. Maybe more like a needle or two, but it wasn't anything he couldn't brush off as anxiety.

Typically Slytherins weren't morning people, but it was Christmas Eve. The common room was full, students running around carrying lights, fake snow, and even a tree. Suga constantly wondered why they waited so long to decorate, but once it was finished, he couldn't complain.

He ducked around a couple students before finally making it into the hallway. It was a little less crowded, but no less chaotic. Suga chuckled, watching Shirabu and Semi argue over where to hang the little bundles of mistletoe. Honestly Suga had no idea how they had so many, it seemed like they were everywhere.

With the shortcuts he learned from Daichi, Suga soon found himself outside the Great Hall. He could feel his stomach growl, but didn't feel like eating. Ignoring the hunger was easy, avoiding the way Oikawa watched him skip meals was a little harder. He was always so overprotective. And it wasn't like Suga purposely sipped meals, he just didn't feel like eating. Maybe it was an excuse, Suga didn't know anymore.

"Suga!" Daichi called from behind him. Suga wondered when he memorized Daichi's voice.

"Hey, Daichi," Suga felt something flop in his stomach as he watched Daichi's face light up.

"Are you done with breakfast?"

"Yep," Suga knew it was a lie, but little white lies never hurt anyone, right?

"Great, what are you doing today?"

"Nothing?"

Daichi nodded and grabbed Suga's hand. This seemed to be a reoccurring theme, but Suga didn't mind. Suga would follow Daichi anywhere, just as long as he could feel Daichi's hand in his.

They took main hallways this time, but Daichi was very careful to dodge the mistletoe. Almost too careful.

Suga looked around. They were standing at the bottom of a set of very familiar stairs.

"Do we have to go up there?" Suga asked. It sounded less like a question and more like a solid no.

"We don't have to," Daichi turned away from the stairs, and they continued down the hall. "But can I ask why?"

"Memories"

"Memories? Did something bad happen?"

"No!" Suga thought back to all the nights he spent in the tower. "Nothing bad happened. In fact, all the things that happened there were good things. Really good things... Just about a person I'm trying to forget about, just for a little bit."
