The Midnight Man Pt. 2) And So It Occurs

It's almost midnight and we gather into my room and we sit on the floor in a four person circle, more like a square but we tried. Sarah being next to me leans over to me and brings her mouth to my ear. "I don't really know how to act this out because I've never done it before." She says. "Same." I whisper. "Who has done a séance before because me and Sarah haven't and we don't really know how to do it. " I say. "I've done it." Says Lexi. "So, you just sit around and summon some dead person." She sits still awkwardly for a moment. "Okay, I lied I've never done it." Lexi says thinking we didn't already know that. "Well it's just roleplay so we don't need to do it for real anyways." Alex laughs. "Oh yeah, I forgot, haha which is odd because like how did I forget, that's weird." I say very awkwardly. I look at everyone and they look at me like I'm such an idiot. I can never talk right after Alex or I get all weird. "So!" Sarah says breaking another weird moment. "This is already such a weird night, let's just get it over with and go home, shall we?" Sarah says. "Yeah." Me, Lexi and Alex say almost synchronized. "Okay, let's start the roleplay." I say.

"Sarah will you begin." I say as we've started the roleplay.

"Yes." She says sternly, straightening her posture and putting her hair up in a bun. "She has never looked this hot!" I think to myself.

Sarah extends her hands to the middle closes her eyes and starts chanting.

"We summon thee Midnight Man." Over and over again she says this.

Lexi mouths the words. "Ha! I was right, you do have to chant."

I nod at her to stop interrupting the roleplay and we all join in the chanting.

We wave our arms in the center of the circle (square).

After a few minutes of our thought to be fake séance we stop, well only because Sarah did, we were just following her lead although she said she didn't even know how to act it out. She brings in her hands and keeps her eyes closed we stare at her trying to impersonate her posture and position. We all seem to almost perfect the way she looks. Then we still looking at her for what to do next she suddenly opens her eyes and all we see is blackness for eyes and it's like we were looking into the abyss.

Alex being the most afraid of things gets so startled she almost jumps sitting down.

I try to comfort her without saying anything so I mouth the words. "She was just really ready for this roleplay I guess and had contacts with her."

She seems to calm down and then we look over at Sarah still staring off into nowhere with her freaky black eyes. Then she makes the most awful grin and I turn my head instantly to Alex her brows raised and clearly frightened half to death and this time... me too... then the lights go out.

Alex and Lexi scream.

We're in complete darkness.

There was no time to think about what Sarah had said earlier right now.

The mightiest roll of thunder sounded sending yet another wave of chills across us all.

Except for maybe Sarah who hadn't made a noise since saying 'yes'.

I reach my hand toward her direction but she wasn't there anymore.

I instantly shout. "Guys, Sarah's gone-."

I'm interrupted by Alex screaming.

I try to comfort her again. "I know, I know but it's okay there's just a storm, the power went out and Sarah just left to scare us."

"No Tom! The door just creaked open!!!!" Alex screams.

I couldn't hear it over me shouting.

Alex jumps at me suddenly, embracing me tightly because if everything Sarah had said came true the reveal of the figure would come very soon after.

Lexi had been oddly quiet through the whole thing. I wondered where she was if she was even in her spot like the last time I saw her.

A lightning strike lights up the room, Alex instantly turns away and digs her head into my shoulder. There it was, the figure bending over us, no outlines, no face and stunningly tall.

Me not being one that gets frightened easily at all doesn't scream but I hold Alex and I scoot away from it.

It follows me with it's face near mine.

It outstretches it's hand.

"Rarrrr!!!!!" Says what sounds like Sarah as the black sheet is ripped off of her sitting on Lexi's shoulders.

Lexi and Sarah start balling laughing and Sarah falls off and Lexi walks to the light switch and flips it on.

Me and Alex just sit in awe, confusion and shock all while still embracing each other.

She scoots away from me.

We look up at Lexi and Sarah still laughing.

"We got you so good!!!!" Says Sarah.

"What the hell?!" I shout as I get up not laughing at all and leave the room.

"Guys, that wasn't funny!" I hear Alex say as she follows me out the door.

"I found it funny." Says Lexi walking to us.

"Eh, maybe it really scared them Lexi." Sarah says glaring at Lexi intensely.

I walk outside and sit on the steps of the cement porch. I take a calming moment and listen to the crickets make their noise which went off almost every beat of my heart. It was calming, the moon casted shadows to the trees and it created lighter shades to the night clouds as they passed slowly. Splitting off in tiny puffs like if you pulled a little bit from a ball of cotton candy. There was an eerie feeling although it was beautiful night. The nightly chilled summer breeze intensified slightly carrying a few leaves from a tree in my yard. I followed the leaves make twirls in the night air and glide pass an orange street lamp from which they stop. I focus my vision for what I see thinking it may be a tree's shadow, some hallucination but deep inside I knew it wasn't. There was an abnormally tall figure which stood hauntingly under the dim light had and had no glare on it's deep black shape from it. The only color I could see other than it's jet black figure was it's piercing white, with no see-able detailed, eyes. I dared not blink or look away for a second, frightened more than I ever had before, hoping it wouldn't just disappear just to appear in front of me. Backing up, I walk inside staring at the nightmarish figure all the while. I run to everyone gathered still not really settled.

"Guys!" I say looking at everyone of them. "I just saw a stunningly tall dark figure by the street lamp outside, I have no idea what it is!"

"Wait really?!" Sarah yells as she runs to a window looking out to the lamp.

She opens her mouth wide in shock and she turns around to look at us.

Her wide open mouth turns into a tall haunting grin and her eyes turned jet black.

Then she says with the most deep blood-curdling, organ-turning and ear-aching sound ever...

"It's the Midnight Man..."
