We are raised being told jokes about ourselves every two seconds. No one looks at us as smart human beings. We are klutzes, stupid, bubbly, and slow. We are not mentally challenged, but we might as well be. Before, we can even develop the knowledge that the jokes are just jokes, we believe that we are all the things jokes say we are. We are Blonde. When someone tells us the joke and we don't think it's funny, it's because we "don't get it" never once do people think that we honestly don't think it's funny. We cannot in any circumstance be the "right one". No way! We are blonde.
We are laughed at from a very young age. Even if we do the same thing as the other kids, people will laugh at us more, or throw out the comment, "Oh, she's 'blonde'." the other kids are doing the same exact thing, but they don't see it, therefore we don't see it. We are forced to believe, that we are an oddity. We are forced to believe this before we even know that we are just as normal as everyone else.
We are mocked by society, friends, and even our family. What are we to do? We cannot just change our hair color. We know our own hair color, and it haunts us. People envy the color, yet they do not understand the self confidence we lack because of it. We act like it's fine, and like we don't mind the jokes, but they are offensive, every one that we hear is more, and more degrading. If you hear a blonde telling a "blonde joke" it is only to save from self-embarrassment or trying to convince themselves that it is ok. Trying to convince themselves that they can overcome it.
Family, Friends, and society convince blondes that they are stupid, before they even have the opportunity to prove themselves. They often play stupid to keep themselves from feeling actually stupid. Blondes are often very smart. They have just as much potential, intellectually, as anyone else. Everyone keeps talking about harshness towards races, what about this, being harsh against a hair color. Could anything be stupider than that? And you think we're the stupid ones. I honestly think you mock and tease blondes to make yourselves feel better about your intellectual status.
