I’ve never seen a snowflake.

Yeah, I know, it’s crazy right? never have I ever seen an actual snowflake my wholeentire life! It’s not my fault though. My father keeps me locked in the castle so that I wouldn’t be able to. Even if I didn't manage to go outside, no snow would be around.

Not for miles and miles, in the Winter kingdom.

I would always ask my father why I couldn’t see one and his response was: “Snow will kill us.”

At first, I didn’t understand. I had learned from a young age that me and my family were immortal, but not immortal. I mean, we could live forever, but we can also die of normal things. Such as getting stabbed or blood loss. Now, I was always careful, and so was my father. He kept me in this Godforsaken castle for years now just to keep me safe. Never was I allowed to step outside the castle grounds. The closest thing to 'outside' i've ever seen was the gardens, and even that was inside.

Since I wasn't allowed outside I spent my time else where such as my favorite area in the castle, the library.
The castle library held books of anything you could ever want to read, well, what I want to read. It produced me years of entertainment and such. I had once fallen upon a book of snow and ice. Being the curious person I am, I reached out and read it.

It said nothing of killing, nor harm. It only explained the beauty of snow and ice. Of how each little snowflake had a special design, and not one was similar to the other. Just like people.

It gave me pleasure to read about them, and to dream about winter. My father told me to stop, and to be normal. I tried, but I couldn’t stop myself. I never could. So when my father said

“It will kill us.”, of course I didn’t understand. How can a thing to magnificently beautifulbe harmful to us?

That’s when I learned about Ice.

My father had explained when I was 14 that I was to become King of the Spring Kingdom. He told me that if winter was to be around, Spring would die and so would summer. Ice and snow is part of Winter. Ice and snow killed your mother. Snow and ice is cold and will numb your body slowly until you feel nothing and die. It will eat any hope you had left and prickle your skin, moving inside your body to where you. Can’t. Do. Anything.

He said…..he said that is how my mother had died. She was frozen by General Winter in war. When I was about 2 and my Mother left me in the basement so she could fight off General Winter, he froze her. My father told me when the troops had came to the castle, she was dead. Cold as Ice, and completely still.

I learned throughout my teen years that the Winter Kingdom was a vicious land. General Winter (the king) had a son apparently, and two daughters. The youngest daughter is Natalia Arlovskaya Winter. The second youngest is Ivan Braginsky Winter, the heir to the throne. Irina Chernenko Winter was the oldest of them all. Together they lived happily, also without a mother who I suspected died of a disease.

The Winter Kingdom had a a committee, a group of 12 advisors and senators who helped the King with choices, and approved his laws and such. Here in the Spring Kingdom however held a congress, a group of 8 senators who could write laws and send them to the king to overlook them with the help of his advisors.

When I asked my father this, he confirmed this was all true and he was proud that I learned this myself. That was the first time i’ve ever heard him say that, and it made me….happy. Yes, happy.

I wasn’t happy for long when he told me that the Winter Kingdom was coming to the Spring kingdom to discuss important trades of such. I was furious. How dare they let the same person who killed my mother into the castle? General Winter could be planning something and kill my father as well!

The tensions between the Winter and Spring kingdom was always high, and the possibility of General Winter even going into the same room of my father will surely cause a racket. Well, suspecting that my father also disliked General Winter.

When the day came that the Winter Kingdom would come, the servants of the castle had woken me bright and early. It was the same routine everyday

-wake me up

-wash me

-brush my teeth

-comb me

-dress me

Instead of my usual clothing though, they dressed me in a red top with buttons made of rubies. Then, pants that became poofy at my shins that were tucked into my leather boots. A yellow sash was put over my chest, that ran down my right side to my left and then they drew a cape over my shoulders, with capulets.

Before I had a moment to inspect myself in the mirror, I was rushed to dining room, to wait for my father. I couldn’t help but rest my face on my hands as I watched servants bring in flowers and plates and decorations of many, making the castle a sight to see.

A servant with brown hair and blue eyes set a vase filled with flowers of many infront of me, on the white table cloth. I met her eyes for a second and smiled, making her flushed red. She quickly left the room, leaving me alone aonce more.

It was about five minutes when I noticed servants had stopped walking around the castle and everything was set. Only one was walked into the room, to get to the throne room, but I stopped him, with a tempted question on my mind.

“Excuse me, where is my father?”I asked him. The young male  turned around and stood straight, with a sly smile.

“Ah...he is outside, awaiting the Winter Kingdom’s arrival. He will shortly be here Prince Alfred.” he replied. I took in all of this and nodded, sending him off. So my father was waiting outside? Good, maybe this way, the two could fight in the gardens, and not in a room filled with food. Then, I could help my father and be the hero I am.

Suddenly, I heard high trumpets sounding from a distance, and this gave me the idea that the winter kingdom had arrived.

I quickly stood up and looked at the door, as it opened. The double wooden doors where pushed apart, to revel my Father, and two men behind him.

My father and me shared similar traits, such as hair color, skin color and face structure. He had purple eyes however, much of a beautiful violett while I had eyes that where the color of the pure sky.

I looked behind my father and spotted General Winter, high and mighty. THe Winter King had a long white beard, like snow, flowing down his chest, but it was shiny and durable. HIs face reminded me of a mean old man, who would yell at children for being on his property. HIs blue eyes where narrowed, but I guessed that was just his eye shape.
His son had looked different from him. He had pale blonde hair, and purple eyes. Ivan was tall, like his father and held sturdy, yet slim shoulders. It was a good build, and he looked athletic and strong.

They all looked at me and I forced my self to swallow a lump in my throat that was forming. My father coughed.

"Ah...This is my son, Prince Alfred Fredrick Jones Spring III of the Spring Kingdom." he announced. He locked eyes with me and I knew he was telling me to bow like we had practiced. I quickly bowed, putting my hand on my stoumach and stood back up.
Then my father looked at the Winter Kingdom.
"Son, this is Prince Ivan Braginsky Winter and his all mighty father, Lord General Winter." He told me, The two bowed and I managed a smile.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I do hope you enjoy your stay." I greeted, even though I wished they left soon as possible. I sadly sat back down in my seat and everyone did the same. My father sat in the head chair, and General Winter in the other.  Ivan sat across from me and we all looked mighty akward.

Servants quickly walked in with plates of many spiced foods. I took a wiff of them and smiled, hearing my stomach growl with hunger. I looked over to Ivan and caught him looking at every meal with desire. I saw him look up and before I could do anything, we stared at eachother.

His big fat-ass nose was the first thing I noticed.
