Adolpha hummed to herself as she walked up and down Caius' row of shirts with a calm expression. Inside, she was a mess of emotions, she didn't know what she was doing- she didn't know why she was making up games and dishing out empty promises. She didn't know why she was acting so uncaring when truly she was devastated at the news that he was married. But Adolpha Blackwood had always liked to play with fire and now she was playing one mighty game of chess against the vampire king and she couldn't help but be completely hypnotised by it.

"Didn't Felix warn you not to enter my rooms?" Caius' voice was clipped but calm as he leant casually in the doorway, watching her tanned hands run along the edge of his row of suit jackets calmly.

"Oh, he did. I just don't care" she breathed.

"That answers my first question" he nodded. "Second Question. You're wearing my shirt because?" he returned when she finally turned to him with a cheeky smirk that caught him off guard. Caius couldn't understand her, he kept trying to know what kind of a person she was but every time he thought he'd figured it out- she changed. He wanted to believe that she was lying about not caring, that she would soon crack and all the emotions would come flooding out but it didn't seem to be happening.

It had been two weeks since he brought her to Volterra and after that first three-day abandonment- he had visited her every day and they had somehow managed to talk for hours. Though they were both playing a solid act of not caring and so, since that first day- he hadn't lay a single finger on her. And he wouldn't. Leaving her wanting was just another game he could play with her.

"Because" she sighed, eyes scanning the hundreds of identical suits, the black shirt on her body dropping to her mid-thigh easily. "I only packed for a week and someone keeps stealing my clothes while I'm sleeping"

"Oooh, I wonder who that could be" he smirked and she glared at him. "I don't want my soulmate dressing like a homeless backpacker anymore."

"Why does it matter, when you're the only person I see?"

"I have standards" he winked.

"What did you think I was going to do when all my clothes finally vanished?" Adolpha hummed in contemplation, raising an eyebrow and his smirk only grew as she sashayed easily toward him. Caius made it so easy for Adolpha to act confident- because he always went along with it. "I hope you do realise that I am a wolf. I wake up naked in the forest in front of a pack of men every full moon. You're not going to make me uncomfortable about it Caius"

With every word she said, his eyes seemed to grow darker and she put it down to his anger- Putting her on edge slightly.

"You play a good game of not caring, Adolpha. But your heartbeat betrays you every time" he informed her and she glared at him. Being so stubborn was definitely Adolpha's biggest fault. Caius' eyes widened in surprise as she suddenly grabbed the button of her jeans and undid it, sliding them down her tanned legs easily and catching him completely off guard.

"What are you doing, little wolf?" he hummed, purposely not removing his eyes from hers.

"Showing you that I don't care" she returned as if it were obvious and he swallowed deeply and her fingers easily reached up and started to slowly undo the buttons. Truthfully, she was counting on him telling her to stop before the situation grew too compromising... He didn't. Soon the shirt dropped and she was stood before his intent ruby eyes in nothing but her lacy black underwear, the length of her long hair protecting her modesty somewhat and she finally crossed her arms and stared at him.

"Hmm"

"What?" she snapped.

"Your scars" he mused making his way toward her and she frowned as he finally reached her and swished her hair over her shoulders gently, without allowing even a slither of skin to touch her own. And as she followed his eyes downwards- she found what intrigued him so much. All over her body, she was littered with scars. As a wolf, it was only to be expected but the way he stared with such fascination unnerved her as she stepped back, coughing before pulling his shirt calmly back on over her body.

"I think I have made my point," she informed him as she smoothly buttoned it back over herself and he smirked. "Wolves can be vicious," she informed him calmly, continuing to assess his wardrobe, opening random drawers as he leant against the wall calmly. His wardrobe was impossibly large and she did her best to keep her expression smooth. "It all depends. Very temperamental. One moon they can be calm, domestic nearly and on the next they'll savage anything they come across" her doe eyes scanned over his tie collection- impressed with the vast array of colours he owned, especially considering he only wore black, grey and red.

"Tell me why you're going through my clothing?" he pondered from where he leant against the wall and she pulled open a new drawer, eyebrow-raising as she found his underwear drawer. "What?" he snapped as she hummed cheekily to herself.

"I didn't take you as the type to wear Tighty-whities, Caius" she teased and he rolled his eyes, knowing that she wouldn't have found any of them in there. "This, however; is much more curious" Adolpha's voice turned to one of confusion and he made his way to stand behind her, easily looking over her head at the box of condoms she had found wedged into the bottom of the drawer.

"You don't know me, Adolpha. I'm not some gentleman, I'm not loyal. I am evil and that is what I would like to be."

"You cheat on Athenodora?" she frowned, flashing her gaze up to his and he tilted his head as he tried to understand the emotions in his eyes. "With humans?"

"Why wouldn't I? I am a king, Adolpha. I can do whatever I like" he blinked and she turned her gaze away, slamming the drawer easily closed.

"But you won't touch me? And you won't let me touch you? And you say that's because you're married?" she frowned and he blinked.

"That's an experiment"

"Experiment? Is that really all I am to you, Caius?" her voice was passive, emotions locked away tightly and he stared at her for the longest moment, listening to her heart and pondering what the correct response would be.

"For now"
