It was a dark and stormy night. The lush forest was filled with sounds of thunder. The cold, noisy, wind whistled. I was next to my mothers fur. She was a light brown tabby cat. I could feel her heart beat. I was next to my brother Mud.  He was a sleek brown Tom. He is my only sibling. We were in a cave. It was dark, warm, and safe here from the rain.

Suddenly, mother sat up. She had a look of fear in her bright, yellow, eyes. I didn't know what was going on. Mud let out a small, quiet, suprised, mew. I heard paw steps in the distance. I couldn't make out what was coming , neither did mom.

Then, it all happened so fast. To pitch black toms came running in the cave, throwing my brother and I aside. My mom let out a low pitched growl, sliding out her claws. The toms surrounded her, then one leaped at her, claws out. It gave a blow at her neck. She let out a shriek then collapsed on the ground. Then everything went quiet....

The biggest Tom said, "Grab the kittens, there coming with us." The toms picked us up from the scruff, and I let out growl and a mew. My brother tried squirming out of the other cats mouth, but it didn't work.

They carried us out into the rain, away from home, away from mother, away from everything....
