The door swung open by a push of a hand, Harry looking over his shoulder as Luke walked through and quickly averted his eyes when Luke glanced at him and he silently cursed his still nervous attitude. He didn't know why he couldn't settle back into how he normally felt around Calum, the time before when they could just speak and he didn't have to feel guilty about what he hid.
He thought he was right in keeping Luke's presence a secret, that helping the blond hide under the radar rather than telling Calum was what he needed to do. Seeing how much it affected Calum afterwards haunted him darkly, Harry couldn't escape the guilt he felt for keeping it a secret from the man. Now with it in the light, he wasn't even sure how Calum felt towards him anymore.
Granted, he hardly saw the other much. He was always keeping himself in the moment. He was working with the gang during the days, Harry didn't know if the distanced Calum always had between the two of them was purposeful or just the cause of circumstances and constantly chose to ignore his questioning rather than attempting to find the answer that just might hurt his feelings more than the bruised state they were in.
He hardly saw Calum in the nights, walking past the office or the other room Calum isolated himself to and would see the noticeable strip of light through the crack under the door. His fist always raised to hit the sturdy wooden door that keep him separated from what or whoever was inside, Harry never built up the courage to actually knock and let himself in, finding himself always turning back down the hall after sighing in defeat of something that never came to pass.
He knew Luke was in the same boat as himself, wondering if Luke has even been able to make another attempt of talking to Calum much after the first night of them coming back together. He had spoke to Luke, not that much of their time speaking had been broken during Luke's "death" but he was glad to know that, at least, Luke had him while Calum was being so rightfully distance from him.
Of course, he understood that Calum wasn't ready to open up and be as close at they used to, he tried to understand as much as he could, but he still couldn't get over his own hurt. His own guilt of being on the wrong side accidentally. He wondered if Luke felt as much guilt as he did, if not more that weighed him down horribly.
A crack of his own knuckles broke the light silence around himself and Luke, legs kicked up into the table before him as they waited for the reason they were called together to be given. He jumped at the opportunity to do something for Calum, wanting to constantly push himself further into getting back to the closeness they once had, secretly thinking that maybe they might never get back to that and it would be all because of himself and his own actions.
His feet dropped back to the floor after the door opened for Calum to come through, the Maori man saying something to Miri that made the man stop in his tracks and move back for Calum to shut the door back. Blue and green eyes watched as he made his way to sit down as well, both averting their looks when he looked up, as if meeting eyes would cause him to blow.
