Okay, so, you've probably heard of all the great heroes that came before me; Wonder Woman, Batman, Spiderman, yada, yada. Well, you can say I was the next one in line to join the league of heroes once I first discovered my powers on my sixteenth birthday. So, to make a long story short, let me put it like this. Apparently, I was born with these powers from my parents, whose names I always THOUGHT were Jackson and Avery Livingston. Come to find out, their REAL names are Jon-El and Ashleice El. Last name seem familiar? Yeah, maybe that's because after discovering my powers, my parents sat down and let me know that not only am I an alien who wasn't actually born on Earth, but that I'm from Krypton, but yes, I am related to that of the mighty, internationally known duo, Superman and Supergirl. I didn't totally disregard what they told me about not being from Earth, because for years, probably since I was 10 or 11, I've had multiple dreams about this beautifully, orange lit sky in a busy, but peaceful city. Dreams of flying and having my own powers. Little did I know that I actually DID have them, but learned that I could never access them due to the annoying "red sun" that orbited the planet. I don't actually remember much of life on Krypton to be honest.
My mom told me the planet grew more toxic, due to the people pretty much treating it like an inexhaustible playground. I was told that Supergirl, aka, Kara, and Superman, aka, Kal-El, otherwise known as Clark, were sent off to Earth in pods when Kara was 13 and Kal was a baby. My dad told me that all 3 of us were sent off in a station when I was literally only 6 months old, even younger than Kal, I think, and within seconds of us fully exiting the planet's orbit, it exploded into nothingness amongst the stars, which....kinda sucks. I was too young to really be connected to Krypton, but it still sucks that my birth planet went down like that. So, since 6 months old, I was raised on Earth without any true knowledge of Krypton, my relation to the Man and Girl of Steel and my powers...until my Sweet Sixteen and that was merely by accident. Lets just say the will to help people runs in this family, like Kara and Kal. I used to live in the same city as Kara, National City and it was our last week there before moving when I was just going for my regular run in the hills and heard a woman scream. I ran to the edge and saw an elderly woman just let go of the railing, pretty much plummeting to her death, like, 100ft below. I honestly can't explain what came over me, but....I leapt over the railing and found myself...FLYING. Like, SPEEDING down towards her. I caught her and somewhat gently landed, letting her go. All she, and I, could do was just admire me. She had a look of shock and relief on her face and I...well, had a look of absolute thrill and fear, cause not only had I just saved someone by flying, but in that moment, I was...floating. Yes, floating. I...Had....POWERS. I had powers like my cousins!
I remember the woman asking me, "Young lady, are you....one of them? L-Like Superman?" And, at first, I didn't know what to say, but after a few seconds, I tried to sound as confident by saying, "Y-Yes, I am." So, she asked me, "What's your name?" Ok, I clearly hadn't thought of my potential superhero name. I mean, HELLO. I wasn't expecting to discover the ability to fly on my Saturday jog just 3 hours before my birthday party downtown. So, instead I told her, "Um....I'll have to get back to you on that", and I took off...FLYING. So, that's pretty much the synopsis of me first discovering what I can do. NOW, looking back, it seemed innocent to tell that elderly woman that I'm related to Kara and Kal, but now, I wish I hadn't. Just like Kara went through hell when she accidentally told Cat Grant, you know, the QUEEN OF ALL MEDIA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, that she's Superman's cousin, I soon went through hell when word got around that a new Kryptonian relative to the Man and Girl of Steel had been introduced to the world. I can definitely say though that all my time in self defense classes and watching superhero flicks that helped me a lot since I lacked actual superhero training. By the end of that week, aka, the end of my sophomore year, my family moved from National City to Boostveile City, to pretty much get away from the constant war zone that was always brought on due to Kara's public presence being known as Supergirl, thus constantly attracting super villains. However, within my first week of finding these powers, I was already attacked by the same freak of thunderous nature that Kara dealt with in National City, little Ms. Livewire. Ugh, I can't stand her. I literally did nothing to this electrical freak and it was during my GYM CLASS where she struck. Knocked the power out of the building and I suddenly got blasted out the window with a heavy shocking hit to the head. Can't lie, it kinda smacked the wind outta me for a quick sec. Afraid to reveal myself, I had to make a break for it around the corner of the school before anybody saw where I got blasted off to and slipped on a spare jumpsuit and ski mask I had stashed away behind the cateteria's back exit. Don't ask me why, but I always keep spare changes of clothes around school. Livewire definitely wasn't a slouch, but all in all, I actually managed to overcome her powers and crush her. And, I mean that literally. Like, I had her pinned to the ground, folded up like a lawn chair and everything. The only surprising part was right before she was taken away, she told me she knew who I was and that stronger foes would be coming for me, simply because of who I'm related to and that the entire El family apparently "has it coming". I shrugged her off at first, thinking, "Yeah, yeah, heard that before." But I still kept her words in the back of my mind though.
Within my first month of being a superhero, I realized I actually have a lot more powers than a basic Kryptonian on Earth. I could do the standard, like fly, move at super speed, access heat vision, X ray vision and freeze breath and super strength and endurance. What came as a shock to me was when I found myself able to shoot freeze vision, heat breath and that I have a big resistance to electricity, which definitely explains why Livewire's attacks only took me by surprise when she sucker punched me. I couldn't hold the secret in for too long, especially since I began pretty much taking on solo missions with just a ski mask and a jet black jumpsuit to disguise myself from the public. I made the mistake of getting too close to my 3 bestfriends on a mission, saving them from within a burning skyscraper and some of the debris tore off the edge of my ski mask and revealed my very familiar face to them just as I grabbed them, flew them out of the building and them took off. Not even a day later, they came to my house and pretty much told me that they knew it was me who saved them and I honestly didn't even have the energy to deny it, so I told them everything. Don't worry, we'd been the 4 best of friends since daycare. We met back when we all lived in National City and reunited when each of our families moved to Boostveile. After the million and one questions of everything surrounding my powers, Krypton, Kara, Kal and anything else alien, I finally asked them if, not only could they keep this a secret, but if they could help me and thankfully, they got the message. Within 3 days with the Kryptonian materials I gave them, Alyssa had put together a floor length, midnight black cape for me, Kori had made me some steel toe, thigh high black boots, cause I was NOT about to wear bright red boots like Kara or flats, like Kal, and Chanel had completed my mask; jet black, sleek and very light reflective, with a connecting hair-tie piece to wrap my long hair up into a ponytail and my bodysuit; a corset-like piece around my mid-region. It was thick, padded, durable and fashionable with a proud black, glittered DG on the chest. Although I told them I wanted to only be called Dominator, they told me DG, for Dominator Girl, was "better for branding rather than a big D, which is just creepy on a girl's chest." Guess they weren't totally wrong. Lets just say I definitely took inspiration from Storm fanfics I saw online. She had some of the best suits, in my opinion.
So, from then on, I had my look and was ready to emerge as a real looking superhero. It wasn't until I helped end a bank robbery that the media caught me before I flew off and asked me one more time what my official name was. I didn't actually have time to ponder on what my name would be, but because I knew I wanted to somewhat distance myself from the "Super" name, I called myself what I always thought was a cool name for a female hero and said, "My name...? Uh...I guess you can call me Dominator." A reporter quickly clapped back and said, "Is it true you're related to Superman and Supergirl? And, why does your suit say DG?" I barely even let her finish before shutting her down with, "Its Dominator Girl, but I'd prefer to be just called Dominator. And, I'm my own hero. I didn't sign up to do any of us, but since I have these abilities, why waste them? I'm here to help and that's all that matters." And, I took off after that. I was NOT about to let her get another word in, before I screwed up and said something dumb that I'd regret later. But with that, I had officially been introduced to Boostveile City as their own personal Superman/Supergirl, now known as Dominator.
