I wake up on a cold, bright December morning. Sitting up, I looked to my reading corner window. The outside frost covers it. Then I hop up to get ready for the day. I throw on my clothes for the day; a Harry Potter outfit. I dash out of the room and skipped my way downstairs to the kitchen, where my twin brother, Castiel is making breakfast. Mmm, cinnamon rolls, my favorite. I think as I walk to the refrigerator to grab some milk.
"Morning Cas! Where's the little munchkin?" I say, grabbing a plate of rolls. The little munchkin is our little sister Lauren. She was born just before my Dad passed away two years ago. Ever since then, things haven't been the same. I've been quiet, not my usual happy, perky self. I used to be fun and full of energy, but my dad was my best friend and when he died, it all went away. It took a toll on us all except Lauren. She never knew him and she didn't have to bear that pain. She's always happy and makes us smile again. She's like that little ball of sunshine at the end of a tunnel everyday.
"She left with Mom to go see Steve again, Carter," he grunted, eating his rolls. Steve is our mom's boyfriend. They started dating about a year ago, just as Lauren turned one and half a year since Dad died.
"Oh," I sigh after five minutes. I pick up our dirty dishes and put them into the dishwasher. Castiel got up to grab our bags before grabbing our car keys. He tosses my backpack to me before walking towards his own.
"You ready?" he asked.
"Yeah let's go," I answered, following him out the door.
At my school, I don't have very many friends, only three main ones. We all love books and have been best friends since the sixth grade. We used to have more friends, but we learned not everyone can be your friend and real people lie. Castiel, on the other hand, is a totally popular bad boy. So many friends, parties, more friends, it's ridiculous.
The ride to school was short. As soon as we got there, Cas hopped his way over to his friends, while I walked up the front school steps towards my locker. At my locker, my friends are already waiting.
"Hey guys!" I chirped. A round of excited replies come out, but one isn't excited or cheery. It's Jaydyn's.
That's strange. She has been really distant lately. She's been really snappy, and quick to judge or comment on everything I do. Usually, she is more lively and nice. I guess something must be bothering her at home or something. We all talked for the next five minutes until the bell rang. The four of us had AP Science Lab. Jaydyn and I sat sat at our lab table, putting our gear on. The last few people trickled in as Mrs. Galanter began to speak.
"Alright class, we are working with dissolving of mentos! So everyone grab a pack of mentos and set aside three. Take the three that you have and place one in each drink; water, juice, and soda. Record the results once you are finished," She drones on for another five minutes about safety and what not. "Oh and when the three are set aside, your group can split them EVENLY."
Jaydyn and I get right to work. She was quiet the whole time. When I reached for a mentos, she smacked my hand away.
" Ouch! What was that for?!" I whisper-shout.
"You don't get any, they're all for me!" she snaps back.
"But the teacher said to split them EVENLY!" I exaggerate.
"Well now you get none. You hear me NONE!" she spits at me. She takes the mentos pack and puts them at her side of the table far away from me. When she isn't looking, I take the two mentos out of the pack, the two that are rightfully mine. I pop one into my mouth, finishing the last sentence on our Lab questions paper..
She looks at me, examining me. She knows I took it. She looks at me as though daring I say it.
"They are mentos that are supposed to be mine," I smirk at her. But little did I know what was going to happen next. She slapped me, hard. A loud smacking noise was heard throughout the room as she did so.
"What was that!?" I cry out as the teacher starts to walk over, along with Amy and James.
"I told you not to touch the mentos, and you did anyways. Why would you do that? I don't want to be friends with you anymore. I felt guilty before, but now I don't," she scowls lowly. "Everyone, check your Instagram feeds please."
The amount of phones that whip out is ridiculous. Within the next two minutes everyone is laughing at me. I don't know what they are laughing at until Amy shows me. It's a video of me dancing in my room like an idiot before faceplanting on my desk. I thought that she deleted it! She told me that she did. I bury my face into James neck as she hugged me.
"Are you happy now that you publicly embarrassed me in front of the ENTIRE school?" I fume, still crying. " Do you feel like you have won this sick twisted game? I thought we were best friends!"
"Oh I KNOW I have won this game,"Jaydyn laughs, with the rest of the class.
Castiel bursts through the door and rushing over to me and everyone gets silent. Like I said, he's the bad boy, and scary. I heard murmurs throughout the class. Cas grabs me by my waist, hugging me to his side, and drags me out of the class. James must have texted him immediately after it happened. I guess sometimes the ones you think are going to be there for you are really the ones who throw you in the flames. I walk down the hallway with Castiel, Amy and James on our trail. The teacher is calling our names, but I don't turn back. I lost someone who I thought was one of my best friends today and that hurt more than anything.Just a little short I pulled together hope you like it! Vote and Comment!!
