51. Old Spark (Fluff)

Lance walks around the aisle's of the supermarket down the street from his parents, he smiles at the thought of seeing his entire family once again after ten whole years. He's been gone since he left for university, leaving everyone he used to care about to focus on his career. He was shooting for what his family didn't even think he can do, becoming a registered nurse. It's not something that's impossible for him to do, it's just his entire family decided (more like forced) to go into the family business but he wanted to be different. He wasn't the smartest person in middle school but in high school he put his mind to it and became one of the smartest people in his school. He was very proud of himself, and he was very scared to face his family after he left for school. Now after working for a couple years at a job he enjoys, he's excited to show his family how far he's gotten.

Lance walks towards the register and the register looks at him with shock, Lance just shrugs it off as he puts the stuff in his cart and finally looks up at the cashier.

"Lance, is that you?" He softly smiles and sees one of his friends from high school. "Oh! Shay it's been so long!" He chuckles and she rings through his things. "It has been quite a while, how are things with you?" She smiles and shows him her left hand, "Hunk and I are getting married." Lance gasps and holds her hand gently while looking at her ring. "Since we didn't know where you were we couldn't send you an invitation, come by tonight? We're having a birthday party for Allura!" Lance goes in shock, he let's go of her hand. "Oh! Sure! But do you mind if I bring along my fiancée?" Shay nearly screams and he chuckles, "Can you also keep it a secret? I haven't seen my family yet." She covers her mouth and nods quickly. "Of course! I assume you're home for your family's reunion?" Lance nods and chuckles, "I'm in charge of the sweets and alcohol." Shay chuckles and someone sneaks up behind him and Lance chuckles. "Baby how many times did I tell you not to do that in public?" His fiancée chuckles but nuzzles their face into his neck.

"Shay this is Lotor, he's a resident doctor at the hospital I work at. We've been dating since third year of school." Lance chuckles as he begins to suckle on his neck, "I'm sorry he loves PDA." He says embarrassedly. She only chuckles but can't help but sad, the old spark he had with one of her friends begins to haunt her mind. They've been friends since kindergarten and dated through middle school and high school. Lance left without telling anyone he even applied to university. Leaving his boyfriend heartbroken and confused. Now he just feels anger and sadness every time he thinks about Lance. "Don't worry, I don't mind. Hunk still lives in the same house, come by at 8. Allura gets home from practice by then." Lance nods and pays for the sweets. He takes two bags and Lotor takes the other three. "I'll see you at 8." Lance waves and they're off to the car.

He was not looking forward to seeing everyone so soon.

He walks up to the steps of his family's house for the first time in ten years, he opens the door to be faced with little kids playing around in the living room and to see his younger sister with a baby bump. His heart swells but once they notice it's him, his younger sister screams with joy and everyone in the house comes running to the living room. "Lance?! You're home!" His mother immediately comes running from the kitchen to bring him into a hug. "My boy where have you been?" She cries out but then she notices the tall man behind him with bags. "Mamma, guys." He begins and steps aside from the door and shows them Lotor. "This is Lotor, he's a resident doctor at the hospital I work at." His family stand there at shock, to hear that Lance works at a hospital. "He's my fiancée." Everyone freezes and doesn't say a word.

Lance knows that it will take sometime to accept this, he did break Keith's heart in the first place. His mother walks up to Lotor, she can feel something wrong with him but sighs. "My name is Rosa, and it's a pleasure to meet you." Lotor smiles and Lance sighs.
