Jin Ling has some feelings about a certain someone, but due to his rude behavior, this "someone's" friend has been trying to keep him away from him as much as possible. No matter how much time he sp...
I stopped in my path and turn my head slightly over my shoulder to see my friend with his bright yellow clothing, with crimson red ribbons flowing with his long hair and bottom robes, letting me immediately recognize who it was.

"Hm? Oh, Sect Leader Jin! What's wrong?"
I turned at him with a smile and a small bow, trying to be polite. Me and my friend were just headed out of Lanling from a meeting, so I wondered what got him trying to get us.
"Ah, nothing's wrong. I just wanted to know if you wanted to go night hunting with me again! My jiujiu has been complaining about some water spirits around Lotus Pier."
"Oh! Well, su—"
Before I could continue any further, Jingyi stepped forward towards him. He had his arms crossed and a kinda unfriendly look on his face.
"Oh, sorry, but we're busy tonight. We only came here to attend a meeting with you, and we need our deserved rest."
"What are you trying to imply, hmm?" He shot back a loon with similar vibes.
Oh boy, here we go again, I thought to myself. This was gonna be a long argument.
"Well, who's the one who sets up spirit nets all around the mountains and not try catching things themselves?"
"Hey! Those nets are expensive and hard to set up!"
"Oh, I didn't know you were the one who set them up. I wouldn't ever think someone as spoiled and rich as you was capable of such things."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"
Jin Ling unsheathe his sword and went straight for him. Jingyi, knowing what would happen anyways, unsheathed his sword too and blocked the attack.
The sound of the two blades clinking continued, and their fight was getting further from where I was initially standing. I didn't even get to say a word before they started their fight. Sigh.
They were causing minor chaos along their way; slicing wood planks, breaking some rope holding up some stuff I didn't really noticed, and causing a bit of distress among the citizens.
You could hear some saying things like "Why is that Lan boy fighting the sect leader?", "What did they do?", "They act like absolute children", and some other things I couldn't quite get while chasing them. I tried calming the people down, but things escalated when Jingyi pushed Jin Ling hard enough to break a wooden wall (I'm guessing).
I ran to where the source was coming from, realizing how far behind I was to try calming the passers-by from the situation. I stopped in my tracks to see Jin Ling trying to stand from the impact. Before this could get out of hand, I stepped in between, arms extended out to make sure they don't see each other.
"Guys, let's not fight here, people are watching!"
Jingyi sighed as I heard him sheathing his sword back slowly. Jin Ling shot a death glare over my shoulder, and he too sheathed his sword. I pray for the day they finally get along.
"Jingyi, maybe we should go night hunting with Sect Leader Jin. Weshouldn't upset the Sect Leader."
"Ugh, fine, I guess we could go along."
I smiled at him, glad he finally agreed. Jingyi seems to agree with most things if I was the one who asked him to.
Jin Ling dusted some dirt and debris off his sect uniform.
"Great, you finally agree!"
Jingyi rolled his eyes.
I gave a soft sigh and looked at them both with the softest expression I could.
"Well, the meeting ended earlier than expected, so I guess we could go night hunting for a bit."
Both of them nodded in agreement, Jingyi though looking a bit like he didn't want to, but decided to do anyways since I was the one who asked.
The sun was falling, turning the sky slowly from a yellow-red gradient to a midnight blue color, the sky being lit by only the thousands of beautiful stars shining down on the roof of our boat, the reflection reflecting up on us.
"My jiujiu told me about some evil spirits wandering around here that's been disturbing him and his clan. Usually he'd get rid of them himself, but they seemed to have more resentful energy than they usually do."
"Do you have any idea where they came from?"
"No, I don't."
"Why didn't Sect Leader Jiang just ask other people to help?"
"Oh because he's tOo scAreD— He's not at Yunmeng, smartass."
Jingyi raised his voice a little.
"Hey! What'd Sizhui ever do to you? Brat."
Hearing those words seem to really set off Jin Ling as he clenches his sword firmer. I wave my hand at Jingyi, signalling him to just calm down a little. He scoffs.
I felt a sudden shake on the boat. Very subtle, but I felt like something was dragging the boat more onto it's left. I bent over and squinted my eyes to see a water spirit, climbing up from the side of the boat.
Without hesitation, I took out my sword and flung it to get it uncling from the boat. This caught Jin Ling and Jingyi's attention and they ran towards where I was. They saw the spirits all swimming towards us at high speeds.
Jingyi, being scared of ghosts, let out a gasp out of shock and took a step back, sounding like he almost tripped. Both of them drew their swords and made a stance preparing to fight.
The water spirits jumped very high, going over the three of us. Jin Ling mostly got his practice from his uncle, Sect Leader Jiang, which means he's most likely already trained to fight them and/or had experience.
He leapt up in the air and slashed the spirit, making it fall back into the water. More of the spirits kept climbing up, making our boat slowly getting imbalanced, tilting more to the side. The three of us walked back to to other side. I took out some talisman from my inner robes and directed them towards the spirits.
They sunk back into the water, I sighed in the close call.
