Chapter 20

The doctors were busy in the operating room, doing a surgery to Jimin. I am sitting on the hospital bench. Silently weeping and praying that the surgery will be a success. I intertwined my hands shaking out of the mixed emotions I'm feeling.

There are stains of blood left on my hand. It's his blood. The blood he shed to save someone's life. I didn't expect that things would go like this. I just wanted to drink a cup of coffee but why do I have to see Jimin suffering before my own eyes?

I have witnessed the ones I love suffering. Their wails caused by the agonizing pain. I may not see it all but I felt it. Why does it always have to be the people I love? Was I being played by fate? Am I not allowed to be happy?

I just lost my Mom. Sharon is still suffering. And now... Jimin?

"Miss?"

I turned my head up to face the man standing at my front. A young boy is hugging him tightly, crying. He was that child on the road crying beside Jimin. The child he saved from getting hit by the car.

"Are you a relative of the patient inside?" the man asked referring to Jimin who's inside the operating room.

"Y-yes"

By answering his question, he knelt on the floor and bowed down. "I don't know what I should exactly say but I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for what happened to him. I really am. But I'm also sincerely grateful that he came to save my son. He saved my only child and I don't know how I should thank him..." he was bowing continuously as he spoke in tears.

"Mister" I held his shoulders and assisted him to stand up. "H-he saved your son out of his own will. Y-you don't have to apologize"

"But Miss, he was such a selfless person for saving my son's life. I should thank him in any way I could" he cried as he was holding on tight on his son.

"Right. He's so selfless" I weakly repeated then I heard the door opened from the operating room. My eyes were immediately turned to the operating door, the doctor came out from it. I approached him.

"How is he?"

The Doctor removed his face mask before declaring, "The surgery went successful"

I sighed in relief.

"Yet"

My face turned serious when I heard him add his statement. I waited for his next words, secretly praying that it's not the worse.

"The injury he earned on his head was severe and it brought a traumatic impact on his body. Most patients with this case usually couldn't make it throughout the surgery. However, he was a fighter and survived the surgery. They are bringing him now to his room, currently in a state of coma. There is no accurate day to when he will wake up but he should be awake after a few days because if he's still unconscious after a long time then there is a lesser probability that he'll wake up. That's all I can say for now, I'll excuse myself at the moment..." Doctor bowed and excused himself.

Inhale. Exhale. He will soon wake up.

Continuous beeping sounds of the machine filled my ears as I entered Jimin's room. He looks calm and gentle even when he's sleeping. I gradually walked my way to him. Every step I take is heavy.

There, his face became clearer to my sight. A nasal canula is attached unto him to support his breathing. There is a bandage around his head, bruises were also evident on his face and body. I'm holding myself not to cry looking at his situation.
