I sat down on the couch at my college dorm, my room mate out partying while I was watching various Adult Swim™ shows.

My attention flickered to the window beside the television. The woods had a large orange light illuminating them. It was odd, because no one ever went in there at night.

Those who did came back... different. Rumors had gone around that a recently spurred up cult had made their layer in the woods, but who would believe that?

Of course, being the curious and stupid me; I grabbed my sweater, phone, put my shoes on, and walked out the door towards the woods.

After about twenty minutes of walking with a small flashlight on my phone. I turned it off as the flames were able to light my way.

I hid behind a tree. Peering out slightly and listening as the five or so people chanted in a different language. Was it Latin?

I had to go back home. I couldn't go any farther. I need to go back.

I had turned around, slamming into a person. They had forcefully grabbed me before yanking me with them towards the fire.

"Jack Nyras..." They all chanted out repeatedly. I never understood how they knew my name.

"He has brought fourth our sacrifice. He shall be the son of our almighty lord and saviour."

I screamed as loud as I could. Crying also as they mutilated me. They removed one of my kidneys, doing who knows what with it. They took a large spoon and pulled my eyes. I could hear and feel the tearing on my eyes.

I laid there limp as they continued what they were doing. I sobbed and clutched my side where they had taken my kidney out.

Why would they do this to me?

Soon it all died down and every thing fell silent. I didn't move, afraid that they we're still nearby.

Suddenly I was harshly held down by my limbs and held tightly at my head. I panicked. I let out a blood curdling scream as they poured an unbelievably hot substance where my eyes were supposed to be.

"Jack Nyras," they suddenly spoke. "You will hence fourth be the son of Chernobog. He will guide you! He will allow you to become powerful, stealthy, and unstoppable. He will allow you to see in a way no other mortal could see! He will grant you honor! He will be your god." They set something, a sort of mask on my face before I heard their footsteps dwindle away.

I laid still for what felt like hours. Numb to the fact that I am forever an abomination.

I grabbed what was put on my face and looked at it. It was a mask. It was blue with black tar like substance on it. Wait, how could I see? Is this what they meant when they said this Chernobog guy would give me a way to see like no 'mortal' could?

I stood to my feet and put the mask on. I have to go home. I shuffled my way home, tripping occasionally.

I swung the door open loudly and slammed it shut.

"Jack?" I heard the scared voice of my roommate, Gregory, say. I must've woke him up.

"Yes?" I asked, keeping my back towards him.

"Where were you?"

"Out."

"Jack, I'm serious. You've been gone for hours and I heard screams from the woods and I was worried."

"Since when do you care?" I spat.

"Jack, I'm serious. What happened?"

"Nothing."

"You're hiding something. Take your hood down."

Since when was he my mother? I grunted and took my hood down.

"Are you wearing a mask?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"I am an abomination." I simply said and looked down at my feet. They had my blood, the black substance, and red hand prints on them.

"What?" Gregory was obviously confused.

"I said I'm an abomination!" I roared out and turned towards him.

"Jack...Jack what happened?" He stuttered and backed away.

"They did this to me! They ruined me!"

"Who Jack?"

"I don't know!" I sobbed. I slowly slid the mask off. "They took my eyes and put this stuff in my eye sockets." I wailed and fell to the floor.

I'm a grown man, sobbing in front of another grown man.

"Jack we need to get you to the hospital." Gregory frantically said and handed me my mask and leaned me onto his shoulder.

"They took a kidney." I whispered out. I don't think he heard me, since he didn't question me.

--

I woke up to the repetitive sound of a heart monitor. I must've alarmed the nurse because she soon walked in.

"Jack? How are you feeling?"

I groaned. "Where am I?"

"The hospital. Jack we have some news for you."

I looked at her. "Yeah?"

"You're now blind. Your eyes were removed." She sorrowfully said.

"But I can see you right now. You have light brown hair with simple make up on."

"Jack, how do you know that?"

"Because I can see you."

"Okay, well, I'll be right back." And with that she walked out right as two men walked in.

"Jack Nyras?" One of them said and pulled out a badge. "FBI, we're here to take you for your safety."

"Safety?"

"We believe you're being stalked." The other one said.

I nodded. The nurse and doctor walked in. "What are you doing here? You can't be in here."

"FBI. We're taking him with us."

"You can't do that! He's not stable!" The doctor objected.

"Too bad. Jack pack your things."

I stood there a moment before grabbing my black hoodie, dark navy blue jeans, the mask, and shoes and went into the bathroom.

I put my clothes on and looked in the mirror. Abomination. Spawn of the devil himself. Monster. Monstrosity. Disgusting.

I sighed and pulled the mask down and pulled my hood up. I walked out and kept my head down as the men guided me out. Under the impression I couldn't see them.

After hours of driving away from my home state of Oregon we finally stopped for good.

I was yanked out of the car and towards the building. I looked at the sign that was attatched to the fence.

AREA 51
AUTHORIZED PERSONAL ONLY.

I was being brought here for testing. Not for my safety. I silently cried, knowing my life as I knew it was gone.

I'll never escape. I'll be forgotten. I'll die in this pathetic place.

The men brought me to a small, secluded room and slammed the door shut after shoving me into it.

I sighed and sat in the corner. I'll never escape this place. I rested my head on the wall and somehow drifted to sleep.
