"So, have you heard of the news?"
"What news?"
"The attack in the billionaire's estate!"
Todomatsu let out a deep sigh, "Seriously, Osomatsu? That's the case me and my squad had been working on. You had to be kidding me."
Osomatsu grinned.
"Well, so what do you think of the case, huh?"
"Hm? Oh, well...I find it suspicious for the suspect to spare the billionaire..." Todomatsu said, "It sounded off. I went and interrogated one of the bodyguards and they say they never seen it coming."
"So?"
"It's just...it must be a professional. If the suspect took out the bodyguards in just a short time, then they have a lot of time to finish the billionaire off."
Osomatsu stared at Todomatsu. Then he started to laugh.
"What? What's wrong?"
"Nothing. It's just that I found it funny to see you very serious."
Todomatsu frown.
"Anyway," Osomatsu continued, "I think that the billionaire survived by luck. After all, in every thriller movie, at least one had to survive."
"I can't say you're wrong. But...I just think that the billionaire himself is suspicious."
"We can't be sure yet."
"Ch-Choromatsu, sir!"
"Just in time, Choromatsu! Come sit next to me," Osomatsu stood up and put his arm around Choromatsu's shoulders.
Choromatsu reluctantly pushed it away.
"You are fully aware that I could fire you right here, right now."
"Yikes."
The man sat between Todomatsu and Osomatsu. Chibita, a short man who owned the oden stand, appeared.
"Ah, if it isn't the chief," he said, "It's rare to see you here today, sir. What would you like?"
"A drink would be enough."
Chibita nodded and disappeared. After a while, he appeared with Choromatsu's order.
"What brings you here, sir?" Todomatsu asked. "Osomatsu wouldn't stop calling me to come here. Thought I might as well come just to shut him up," Choromatsu said, "Though I didn't expect to see you here, too. Is this where most of the other officers go?"
Todomatsu nodded, taking a sip of his own drink. Osomatsu grinned, nudging Choromatsu with his elbow, "This is why you should come here often. This way you might get along with the others well."
Choromatsu blushed and tried to ignore Osomatsu.
"By the way, Todomatsu," the man turn to the other officer, "Any prime suspect?"
"No, sir."
"Well, just pay attention to the billionaire. The suspect might come back to finish what he started."
"What about me, Choromatsu?" Osomatsu asked, almost pleadingly.
Choromatsu groaned, "Just...just help Todomatsu with his work."
"What?! But, sir," Todomatsu protest.
"I'm sorry, Todomatsu. But if I don't give this guy what he wants, he won't leave me be."
Osomatsu cheered, taking a big sip on his drink. "Chibita, oden man, give me another one!"
"Yeah, yeah, you idjit! Make sure you pay for it this time."
"Don't worry, Chibita," Osomatsu said, "I have my money right here with Todomatsu."
"Eh! Why do I have to pay?!"
"Because you just got your pay, right?"
"You're such a handful..."
"Ehehe, thanks, Todomatsu!"
"How about you, sir?" Todomatsu turned to Choromatsu, "I'll pay for your drink." Choromatsu shook his head. "I'll pay for mine." He put his money on the table and walk away. "Make sure to report anything you found, okay?"
"Sure!"
"Okay!"
Choromatsu left the place. But something was bothering him.
"Must be the drink..."
