Rogger had dreamt about Valeria again. She had been in the kitchen when he returned home from training with Casius. He dropped all of his armor and weapons down in the foyer of their hall. The sun had been getting low and his muscles ached. She turned a spoon through the kettle when he came up behind her and took her by the waist.

"Hello, beautiful," he said before kissing her on the flank of her neck. She smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

"How was it?"

"Painful," he said with a sore chuckle. "Body aches to no end."

"Aw," she drawled mockingly, "my heroic husband got beat up playing with the boys?"

"Quit it you."

"Or what?"

"Or..." He took her by the hips and spun her around. His mouth went to her neck. His soft kisses trailed up her neck to her ear, down her cheek, and ended on her lips. He pulled away and grinned widely. "Or I'll do that."

Valeria smirked. "That is no incentive to stop being an arse."

He shrugged and moved his hands around her hips to her buttocks. "I know, that's why I love you. A lot."

"I love you a lot more than that."

"Sure. Care to present your case to the court?"

"Glady."

She took him by the shoulders and reeled him in. Their mouths met with a passion they had longed for the entire day. His hands roamed her body and carressed her breasts. She bit his lip and pulled his head towards her. Rogger guided her to the cabinet and mounted her on top of it. Their kisses quickened, their mouths wetted each others. Her fingers finessed the straps and bands of his armor and tugged it off. He undid the belt himself.

Then her head snapped back. "Of fuck," she giggled.

"What?" As soon as the question left his mouth he smelt something burning.

The two prodded each other and she pointed to the kettle. "Take it off the fire, quick."

He grabbed mittens from the shelf above the hearth, carried the kettle away and set it down against the wall to cool. Valeria ran her hands through her hair laughing.

"Great, dinner is ruined."

"Whoops. Guess we'll just have to go out tonight."

"Best be quick then, boy."

The sun had set and they laid on the furs that covered the main hall's floor. Their clothes strewn around them. Their wet and naked limbs intertwined. Rogger's thumb stroked her olive chin. He saw his own reflection in her dark eyes.

"I love you. A lot." The hearth snapped loudly. Then cracked.

"I," she poked him in the chest. "Love you. A lot more." She then rubbed her stomach in a circle motion. "I want this. I really want this."

He took her hand and kissed behind her palm. "I do too. More than anything.

Valeria kissed him on the forehead, then retreated back. Her smile quickly fled. "I don't want you to go," she said.

"I don't want to either but, well, who else can? It has to be me. It's destiny."

"I know." Her voice was weak.

"I don't want any of this. I swear to you and the Gods, I just want you. I want you, and him," he said as he rubbed her stomach.

"Oh?" her eyes widened with a giggle. "It's a him now, is it?"
