On a warm spring day at Oakwood High, you sit in history class waiting for the bell to dismiss you from school. Somewhere in the lesson, you zone out. Minutes later, the teacher snaps his fingers, forcing your mind to jump back into reality. The look of shock stung your face. The entire class laughs.
You hide in your embarrassment, as the loud speakers go off.

"Teachers lock your doors and hide your students, this is not a drill."

The lighthearted laughter from the room immediately turned into silence. Everyone's smiles dropped. The announcements were cut off by four gunshots. They sounded close. You sat at your desk frozen with fear, like everyone else. The loud speakers microphone shifted like someone was about to make an announcement, but no one did. A loud booming sound echoed through the speakers, followed by a ringing noise. The microphone must have fell. Everything was silent.
Nobody moved. Someone down the hallway screamed. A gunshot followed. An alarm began to go off. The fire alarm. You sat up in your desk, and tried to look out of the door. You saw students and teachers running frantically up and down the hallway, trying to get out of the school. Everyone in the class started to look at you, so you sat down normally out of nervousness. You waited anxiously for someone to do something, anything, but no one did. Everyone just sat and looked at each other, listening to the fire alarm, and the halls of horrors.
All eyes fell on the teacher, when he got up from his chair. He put his pointer finger over his lips, signally us to stay quiet. He cautiously walked over to the door, and shut the lights out. The fire alarm became even more noticeable when there was no longer any light in the room. Just as the teacher was about the lock the door, it flew open. Everyone heard it, everyone knew. Someone had come in. You put your hands over mouth, got up from your desk, and layed on the floor. The lights remained off.
The door opened and the slammed shut. Someone ran out. And with that, people began to step on you. Gunshots were going off inside the room. People screamed and ran around, trying to find a place to hide. You felt bodies hit the floor around you. More gunshots went off, you winced in pain. You were hit. You felt your left leg bleed out onto the floor. As much as you wanted to scream in pain, you didn't. Your head began to spin, so you shut your eyes. The last thing you heard was the fire alarm, echoing through the halls. You began to drift off.
