sorry if there's any mistakes.

hinata started his day off in the worst way possible. he had woken up an hour before he needed to and could not get back to sleep.

despite being awake too early, he felt his headspace creeping up slowly. he cursed himself under his breath and hoped the feeling would go away before he completely gave into it. he had school and volleyball practice to attend and he did not want anyone knowing about this side of him, especially not his teammates.

10, 20, 30 minutes went by and the feeling only continued to grow. it was as if his big headspace was walking slowly down a hill that led to a cliff. once he made it to the cliff he would be hanging onto his big headspace like someone dangling off the edge. if he let himself get that far it would be so much harder to pull himself back.

he glanced at the time and got out of bed to get ready, already knowing it was going to be an agonizingly long day. it wasn't hard for hinata to get dressed and ready, but he was just worried he'd end up slipping at some point in class.

in just a few minutes he was out the door and on his way to school, fidgeting with anything he could touch. he found himself clenching his jaw and the closer he got to the school, the more anxious he got.

upon entering the building, he'd almost bumped into at least three other students and his mind was a mess. he'd usually have the urge to slip when he was alone and safe so he did not know how to control it very well. he felt so vulnerable and scared.

five things he can see. he needed to focus on five things that he could see. he had heard of people using this strategy to overcome anxiety in situations where they need to be grounded. five things he can see, five things he can hear, five things he can feel. floor, students, doors, bags, and papers. the sounds of laughter, conversation, music, walking, and zippers. the feeling of his hand brushing against his leg, the way his jacket sits on his torso, the weight of his bag, the small amount of wind in his hair from walking, and his fingers brushing against the end of his sleeve.

it was working. he was bringing himself back to reality and calming himself down as he made his way to class. the urge to be little diminishing as he repeated the words inside his head. he would be fine for the day.

classes,
classes,
more classes.
too many classes.

the last bell rung through the classrooms and he eagerly got out of his seat, almost forgetting he has volleyball practice. grabbing his belongings, he took his time while heading to the gym. he hung his head for a split second as he remembered he still had to fight his headspace through practice.

"look who decided to show up..." immediately all eyes were on him as he stepped into the gym. "its been like five minutes.... i'm barely late, tsukishima." a scoff was heard from the taller male.

"anyway.. we're working on receives right now!" he heard from nishinoya, who had moved to pat hinata on the back as a way of saying 'get on the court lol'.

everyone got to work practicing their receives, but a certain someone was growing frustrated with hinata for constantly missing them.

"what is wrong with you today?!" he almost growled the words out, "you cant receive a single ball that's thrown at you." hinata's eyes widened at the tone kageyama was using. he was terrified.

"s-sorry.. i'm having troubles focusing" he squeaked out. kageyama's glare did not leave his face as he took a step closer to the poor afraid boy. "why would i care. you can receive any other day so that's telling me it's just an excuse." the pissed off setter crossed his arms and turned away with a scowl.
