haneul sighed as she unplugged her translator from the power socket. she needed to rush off soon, but it barely charged halfway.

"oh well i can always use my portable charger to charge it on the way." she thought as she plugged the device to the charger.

she checked the time again. "mom i'm going to be late for work, byeeee." she shouted to her mother as she quickened her pace. haneul slipped on her shoes as fast as possible and dashed out of the house.

she looked at her watch as she ran to the bus stop, her long hair flying behind her. from a distance, she saw the bus leaving the bus stop slowly. she waved her arms frantically as she tried to catch the bus driver's attention.

no luck. the bus drove away, oblivious to her cries of despair. oh no, jaehyun is gonna kill me... she buried her face in her hands, slumping onto a seat at the bus stop.

a sigh beside her was heard as the person plopped his bag next to her on her left. she lifted her head to see a man sit next to her, ruffling his hair as he groaned in frustration. well, i guess i'm not the only one who missed their bus...

she glanced at the man from the corner of her eyes. dyed light pink hair, quite young, looks like a cute mouse. pretty tall, around 1.8. she quickly looked away from him in case he realized that she staring. but wow, he's pretty good looking...

"thanks." he suddenly spoke up.

"w-what?" she jumped.

"did you say something just now?"

"no...' she side glanced at him.

"oh." his face flushed in embarrassment. "i must be hearing things." he smiled sheepishly, while playing with his fingers.

"i guess." haneul looked away. an uncomfortable silence fell after that. it was as if the conversation had only stopped at a comma instead of a full stop.

"hey-" she turned to look at him, only to find out that his attention had been turned to his notebook, only for me to distract him from whatever he was doing.

"yes?" he looked up from his notebook.

"i — uh —" she stuttered. quick! think of something!

"what are you doing?" she internally face palmed myself. why did you ask something like that?! what if it was personal? or sensitive?

he chuckled as he answered. "i'm writing something for my soulmate." he looked at her anxious expression. "it's fine asking, you don't have to be so scared." he laughed a little.

her interest was piqued. "have you met your soulmate?"

a small smile played in his lips. "i think so."

her eyes widened. "that's so cool! what are they like?"

he looked up in thought. "i think she's a lot like you."

"you don't know me yet, how would you know?"

"a gut feeling." he winked at her. he cringed shortly after that and covered his face with his hands. "sorry, shouldn't have done that."

"it's fine." she laughed.

a few words scribbled in his notebook caught her attention. "are you writing a poem?"

"no." he opened the book wider to let her look. "more like lyrics."

she stole a few glances before he closed the notebook. "maybe i shouldn't show you. i don't want to spoil this for my soulmate." he smiled.

a name was written in the cover. his name is jisung, huh. she shrugged. "sure."

he turned his attention back to his notebook. "how would you describe yourself?"

"why do you want to know?"

he looked up from his notebook. "i want to know how similar you are to her."

"well." she thought for a while before answering. "i guess i can be a bit tsundere-ish."

"mhm." he nodded, still writing in his notebook.

"i guess sometimes i flare up a bit, but my friends always say i'm cute when i'm angry." she giggled a little.

"go on." he nodded encouragingly.

"i sometimes struggle with myself." she leaned back as she looked at the sky. "i don't know where i'm going in life, it's like a möbius strip. i run and run, but i can't escape this endless loop."

haneul chuckled a little bitterly. "i feel bad for my soulmate. they're gonna get stuck with this. i sometimes feel like i have no soul."

jisung closed his notebook and looked at her. "have you met your soulmate?"

"no."

"then why do you assume that they would mind being with you?" jisung said gently as he put his notebook in his bad. "they should accept you for who you are, your perfections and imperfections.

"i don't know my soulmate that well, but i know that i would accept how she is no matter what." jisung smiled genuinely.

whoever his soulmate is, she is really lucky. "i'll keep that in mind."

just then, her bus pulled up. she stood up and flagged it.

"well, bye, i guess." she turned to board the bus. just then, he caught a glimpse of her left ear. his eyebrows furrowed as his suspicions were confirmed.

"hey, wait —" he called out. but she was already out of earshot, too far gone to hear him anymore.
