Shuichi's pov
Make one friend. I kept thinking this as y/n and I walked to school. We weren't talking, just enjoying the silence I guess. But who would be my friend? None of them look like a worthy friend or interesting. "Whatcha thinking so long and hard about?" y/n asked me. "O-oh nothing." I replied, not wanting to tell her my plan. "Hm...alright." I know she's suspicious. I mean, we've known each other since we were kids, she's able to read me like a book. I'm glad she didn't push it, I want it to be a surprise. As soon as we entered the school the avocado, I mean, Rantaro, came up to me and y/n. "Hi y/n and Shuichi, right?" "Yup, that's me." As I promised with y/n, I will give him a chance.

"Cool, cool. Hey, y/n! Remember when Kaede screamed a spoiler of the movie we were watching?" Rantaro asked. "Yeah, is she also here?" "Yeah, she's in all my classes, but she acts differently." "How so?" "She doesn't act the same way like she did at camp she acts like a goody-two-shoes." "Huh, that is weird. Wait, please tell me Kokichi's here!" "Yup, I have 4th and 5th period with him." "Shuichi, you're gonna love Kokichi! He's so quiet and such a smol boy!" y/n said happily. "Yay." I mumbled. Oh yay, more people to hate. How is y/n making friends so easily? I wish it was that easy. "Is it ok if I sit with you guys at lunch?" Rantaro asked.

Please say no
Please say no
Please-

"Of course! Make sure to bring Kaede and Kokichi along!" y/n happily replied.

Why are you so nice?

I groaned internally. "Ok, see you soon!" Rantaro said as he waved and walked away. "Why the sad look Shuichi?" y/n asked like she doesn't know. "I like it when it's just me and you." I replied. "It's fine, Shuichi. You'll love them I swear." She said with a smile. I smiled back. y/n has never lied to me so I guess I should listen.

~timeskip to lunch~

y/n and I were talking until Rantaro and his friends came along. y/n and Rantaro were having fun talking while I boredly watched Danganronpa. Only ten more minutes and I'm done with season 7, I can't have any distractions! "Hm? You like Danganronpa?" I paused and looked up from my screen to see Kaede leaning in to see. "Ah, you're in season 7? Well, to save you some time, the-" "No! Please don't." I pleaded, suddenly remembering what y/n and Rantaro were talking about. She smiled. "I'm kidding. I'm Kaede Akamatsu." "Sh-Shuichi Saihara." I mumbled. "You are so adorable! I guess y/n wasn't lying." She happily said. I blushed lightly. "Oh yeah, the kid with the purple hair is Kokichi Ouma. He's basically as shy as you." She explained as she pointed to him.

He's drawing something, but I'm not sure what is it. She scooted over to him. "Whatcha drawing?" She asked and he jumped. "No-nothing!" He exclaimed as he covered it. "Why are you hiding it? You're making me think you drew porn." "B-but it's a b-bad drawing." He mumbled. "I'm sure it's fine." He sighed and showed her the drawing. "Hey, that's really nice," She said with a smile. "I didn't think you'll be into Danganronpa." I scooted over to Kaede so I could see the drawing. I leaned over and it is a really good drawing of one of the characters from season 3. "I like your drawing." I said. "Th-thank you." He quietly said. For the rest of lunch, we just talked about our favorite characters from Danganronpa. Kokichi only watched up to season 5 and he gave us permission to spoil since he wasn't gonna finish it. I'm surprised he even made it to season 5. Kaede was trying to tell us what happened at the end of season 7, but the bell rang.

Saved by the bell! "Stupid bell." She grumbled as she got up. "Anyway, nice talking to you Shuichi. It was fun." She said with a small smile as she walked off. I smiled too as I got up. "See you after school y/n! Come on Kokichi." Rantaro said as he got up. "O-ok. Bye Shuichi." He said with a wave and followed Rantaro. "You look happy." y/n said. "H-huh? Me? Nope." I said, going back to my straight face. She smiled. "You like them don't you?" She asked. "Ma-maybe..." I mumbled. "Well, that's good! I would hate for you to have no one to talk to if I get sick." She said as she randomly pats my head, not messing with the ahoge.

I smiled.

Maybe this isn't that bad.
