((This might not make sense so sorry!! Also, just a warning for this whole story...It's really angsty soooo...yeah! And to all you dark side lovers, Janus and Remus are in here!))

Roman's parents were never really the problem when he was younger. It was more of his brother, Remus. Although his mother did drink a lot, and his dad smoked, they tried their best to look after him. Roman and Remus always hung out, they were inseparable. Almost...
The two boys were exploring a forest, and stopped by a river because Remus was thirsty and didn't care if the water killed him. They sat by the waters edge and just as Remus was about to drink, he saw a boy. "Look Roman!" Remus nudged his brother and pointed to the mysterious boy. "I'm gonna say hi!" He stood.
"Wait Remus! What if he's a thief or something?" Roman said, pulling on Remus' sleeve.
"Don't be silly! He's not, there's no way! I mean, what's he gonna steal, the water?"
"I guess you're right but--" He watched Remus skip over to the boy. "--you already have me..." Remus and the other boy talked, then Remus waved at Roman and walked off with the boy. Roman sighed, trying his best not to cry. "Don't cry, don't cry! He's probably just lost, and Remus is gonna show him town or...or something." He wiped a tear off his cheek. "Yeah! I'll wait here until he comes back,"
Hours went by, and there was no Remus. He started crying again as he stood, walking in the direction of his house.

---

He took a deep breath before unlocking the door. He must've waited a while, because everyone was sat at the table. They didn't wait for me...? He walked over to he table and sat. At least they left food, I guess.
"Welcome home Roman," His mother said. "Your father was talking about his day, you missed your turn. That's fine though, we'll let you say it tomorrow,"
His father finished his long rant about how bad his day was, and Remus smiled brightly when his father said it was his turn. "Well, when me and Roman were in he woods, I found this kid! He's 10, like me! And his name is Janus, I met his snake too! He's really nice," His eyes lit up. "I told him I'd ask if he could eat dinner with us tomorrow, can he?"
"Sure, he sounds great,"

----------

Tomorrow rolled around, and it was dinner. Remus had left to go get Janus, and Roman was making paper airplanes. By the time he finished drawing the last little person, the door opened. Remus stood there with his new friend. They walked over to the kitchen, Roman quickly following. The three watched as his mom set the food on the table. The problem was they only had a table for 4. Roman climbed into his chair.
"Roman, let Janus sit in your spot," His dad said. He sighed, getting out of his chair.
"So where do I sit?"
"You'll have to wait until we finish,"
"Oh...." He looked at Remus and Janus. They were laughing about something, and Roman swore he'd never seen Remus so happy. "You know what, I'm not really hungry anyway. I'm just gonna go to bed,"
"Okay, I'll see you in the morning,"

---

After that, Remus barely even talked to Roman. And Janus was constantly over and staying for lunch and/or dinner. No one seemed to care that Roman never ate when he was around. Really...no one seemed to care about him. It was like they tossed him out and replaced him with Janus. Like that was the plan all along.
To fuck with his mind.
To betray him
To leave him helpless
To watch him suffer.
Because he wasn't good enough.
He wasn't good enough for anyone.
He'll never be good enough.

((Oh my god I'm so sorry Roman!! Why did I write thissss?? Also, um, there's probably no one reading this but do you want any ships in this? If so, what are they? I guess whatever's said the most I'll add. But yeah, that's it! Remember, stay safe, stay gay, and stay healthy! ily uwu))
