This is the first sentence I remember from her. My mother is my world, my safe space, the only one I trust. Actually, put that in past tense. Because she's gone now. Police said it was suicide, our neighbors said it was suicide, dad said it was suicide. But they don't know that I know the truth. I know what happened that awful night, even though I was just a toddler, and it will stay with me forever.
