"I'm telling you this is a bad idea!" Noah exclaimed, glaring at the boy next to him. "Pfft then why are you here with me, I said you could go home at anytime." Cody laughed. Noah rolled his eyes in response, "Because I'm probably the only one smart enough to keep you out of trouble right now dummy." "Fair point". The two of them continued deeper into the woods  Until they reached a clearing. Cody plopped onto the ground. "Now what?" Noah asked, annoyed. Cody smiled and dug underneath his oversize hoodie and pulling out a Ouija board. Noah backed up quickly, "You're crazy if you think I'm going to do this with you", "Why, scared?" Cody retorted, snickering. "What- No! This is just stupid, what's your goal? You don't seriously think you're going to get in contact with anyone, e-especially Ezekiel, right?" Noah's voice caught in his throat. Cody frowned "It's worth a try." He ignored Noah glaring at him and set the Ouija on the ground, He put his fingertips on the planchette. "How do I know you aren't faking the responses." Noah said dryly before Cody grabbed his hand. Noah tried to pull away but Cody made his best attempt at puppy dog eyes and pulled him down next to him. "Well, you could join me, then I wouldn't be able to fake it!" he smiled. Noah sighed loudly and rolled his eyes again. "Fine. But I don't think it'll 'work'".

The two sat across from each other, the Ouija board between them, they each putt their fingertips on the planchette. "D-do I start?" Cody asked nervously. "What? Sure- I mean this is your idea." Noah replied. Cody nodded before looking at the board, he opened his mouth to speak but struggled. "What's wrong?" Noah asked. "I don't know what to ask him- Ezekiel I mean...". Noah looked at him funny but stopped quickly and grabbed Cody's hand, he was clearly still mourning the death of their best friend, they both were but Noah felt the need to hide it, to be the stronger person, but Cody really seemed to think they'd be able to contact him tonight so Noah played along with it. "Just, ask if he's here first, then re-introduce yourself or something" he suggested. Cody smiled lightly and they put their hands back on the board's piece.

"Uhm, a-are there any spirits here with us tonight?" Cody asked a little too seriously, causing him to laugh. He stopped quickly to wait for an answer. Nothing happened for a few seconds so he decided to say something else. "I-it's me, Cody... oh! and Noah's here too-" he paused for a moment and just when he decided to continue, the planchette began to slowly glide across the board towards the letter H. Noah looked at Cody, "You're doing that, I can feel you pushing it." Cody was staring at the board in a mixture of fear and excitement. "I'm not doing it." He assured Noah. The Planchette glided from 'H' to 'I' before pausing. Noah took his hands off of the piece "Take yours off too. You're totally doing it. Stop joking around lets go home." He was upset that Cody was doing this. Cody took his trembling hands off the piece and looked at the board. "Shut up Noah." Noah's eyes widened, Cody never told him to shut up in that tone. "Zeke? are you there?" Cody asked.

They waited a few seconds, then the planchette began to move on its own across the board towards the 'yes' option. Cody smiled but Noah stood up and grabbed Cody's arm. "Do you hear that? Somebody's coming." He whispered. Cody didn't take his eyes off the board "yeah yeah sure It's probably nobody". Noah got angry and yanked Cody off the ground and onto his feet. "No it's probably an authority checking the woods for weirdos like you, we need to go" he hissed. "Fine, I just need to pack up the board and we'll continue this at my tree hou-" Before Cody could finish his sentence, Noah was already dragging him away while running. Cody kept trying to pull away but Noah kept his grip. "Please I want o go back it's my- OUR only chance to talk with him again please!!!" Cody cried, trying to hit at Noah as they ran out of the woods and down the street towards Cody's house. Noah ignored him.

They arrived at Cody's home and carefully snuck around to the backyard where a tree house was located. They held all their "meetings" there, Ezekiel used to hang out there too. Cody sat in the corner of the tree house and glared at Noah. "YOU RUINED IT." He cried angrily. Noah slapped a hand over his mouth. "Cody shut up, your parents are going to hear us out here. Listen I'm sorry I 'ruined' it but lets face it that Ouija board probably has like, magnets or something in it to make it seem real." He got increasingly more serious. "We all mourn in different ways but this... this isn't it. He's gone, you need to get used to it. It's been months, ALMOST A YEAR since he's been gone and you decide to pull this bs!?" Noah got louder and increasingly more angry. He was about to start again but suddenly a bottle from their tree house window fell over. "oops the wind-" Noah started, but then papers from the corner of the tree house started blowing around as well, and things from their shelf began falling over. Cody yelped and shrunk against the wall, Noah scooted over to shield him quickly from stuff falling over. Noah squeezed his eyes shut along with Noah and they held onto each other despite quarreling, while stuff flew around them. The commotion stopped and the "room" grew silent. The boys slowly let go of each other  and opened their eyes. A fuzzy figure sat in front of them but it slowly gained focus, as if whoever was looking at it put on glasses.

"Hey guys." The figure spoke. It was Ezekiel. Cody scooted over to him quickly, Noah tried to pull him back, unsure if this was really happening, but Cody escaped his grasp and went in to embrace Ezekiel. Cody was surprised when he fell right through Zeke, hitting his head on the wall. "Ouch...EZEKIEL? ZEKE? IS IT REALLY YOU?" he cried excitedly. Zeke looked down at his hands and moved them around "I think so?" Ezekiel smiled and looked up and down at Cody and Noah, "So are you guys a thing yet or-" Zeke began before Noah cut him off, "H-How are you here? right now?? I'm sorry I'm just, really confused and..and scared and-" Noah got too upset to the continue. Ezekiel thought for a moment. "I don't even know. I was just, chilling and I heard somebody asking me questions, then that somebody turned out to be Cody and I.. tried to respond but nobody answered after that.." he said sadly. "Oh! It's because Noah dragged me away from the Ouija board without letting me say goodbye. I think if you don't say goodbye, the spirits could potentially follow you home..." Cody chimed in. "Gee Noah why'd you do that? I was waiting for a response..". Noah frowned "Are you both going to be blaming me for that all night? somebody was coming and I panick-" Zeke put his hand on Noah's shoulder. Not as if he could feel it. but Noah stopped anyways. "It's fine, we're all together again that's all that matters, or something- right?". Noah and Cody nodded.
