"Thank you" I said as my mother placed a plate of food in front of me. It smelt weird but I ate it as usual, the texture felt rough and rubbery. I had to convince them that I was still blind. The truth is, I wasn't born blind. I was in an accident when I was around the age of 12. I woke up from a 2 month coma, but it was strange since I couldn't see anything. "Am I dead? Or am I dreaming...". I was diagnosed with a brain tumour that caused me to go blind. Luckily, the doctors were able to remove it. As a result of the surgery, I was left permanently blind. Or so they thought. "Honey, I'm so glad you woke up! Welcome home." My parents took care me for about 4 years while I was blind. They did everything from feeding, to bathing me. I started to notice that my vision was slowly starting to come back. I could vaguely make out the faces of whom I thought were my parents. I never told them because I wanted it to be a surprise. They never let me leave the house, I was too vulnerable.
