Nanapatakip ako ng tenga sa sobrang lakas ng sigaw ng isang batang lalaki. Sobrang sakit ang iniinda niya base sa sigaw niyang 'yon. Umaalingawngaw sa dalawang tenga ko ang boses na iyon. Nakakapanikip ng dibdib, unti-unti akong pumikit at malalim na bumuntong hininga bago bumulong ng himig.

"Wag kang aalis. Pakiusap."

Napalingon ako sa lalaking humatak sa akin. Pinunasan ko ang mga luha na umaagos mula sa kaniyang takot na mga mata. Hinawakan ko ang mga naginginig na kamay niya, sinandal niya ang kaniyang ulo sa aking balikat.

Napatingin ako sa lalaking inaabot ang kamay niya sa akin. Tinignan ko lamang ito. Pilit akobg umaakyat sa abot ng makakaya ko. Sinubukan niya akong hawalan ngunit pinigilan ko siya.
