"Avery. It's already late. What are you doing here?" Charlotte was shocked to see her nephew under the rain.
"Just need a place to stay," Avery said.
"Come in. Come in," Charlotte takes Avery's backpack.
"What happened to you? You're drenched in water, my dear. Everything alright?" Charlotte hands a towel to Avery.
"Yeah. There was just a misunderstanding in the family," Avery noted.
"It's alright you can tell me everything," Charlotte smiles.
Today...
"You know living with you for the past four days really relives me off of stress," Avery says during dinner.
"Is that so?" Charlotte smiles.
"Yeah. I mean you're in a mansion by yourself. No one to bother you. And that my friend is what I call lucky," Avery says.
"Lucky? Not always. Sometimes makes me think I should've had my only family," Charlotte replied.
"Ugh. Family," Avery shudders in disgust.
"Avery. Your mom and dad are just trying to protect you. You should go talk to them. It's been four days since you last spoke to them," Charlotte convinces Avery.
"Can't believe your on their side," Avery disappointingly said.
"I'm not on anybody's side, okay?" Charlotte replied.
"Doesn't look like it," Avery stands up and heads to the kitchen.
While washing the dishes, Avery gets a call from Cassie.
"Hey, Avery. How you doing?" Cassie starts the conversation.
"I'm doing fine. Anything new?" Avery continues washing dishes.
"I hear water running. You taking a bath?" Cassie laughs.
"Nah. Cleaning the dishes right now. My aunt and I just finished dinner," Avery replied.
"Oh. I'm really sorry for disturbing you. I didn't know," Cassie apologizes.
"No. It's fine," Avery chuckles.
"Avery! Are you done washing the dishes?" Charlotte exclaims from afar.
"Yeah, Auntie!" Avery exclaims back.
"Sorry about that," Avery brings his phone back to his ear.
"So you're like a butler now," Cassie joked.
"Haha. Very funny," Avery sarcastically says.
"By the way, I need to go. I'm just gonna have a talk with my aunt here. So sorry," Avery said.
"Sure. Sure. No problem," Cassie hangs up.
Avery charges his phone and goes to Charlotte's room. While in there, Charlotte shows pictures of her and Zach in their younger years. Amazed by their family history, Avery became familiar of his father's struggle to fit in with the so called "Cool kids" in his school years, which Avery related to. He was also frightened by the story of how Zach fell into depression. Avery's emotions were mixed while looking at family photos and listening to Charlotte's stories.
"I can't believe on how much my dad's been through," Avery wipes tears from his eyes.
"We've been through a lot when we were younger but with the help of Prince, Tina, and your mom...those problems disappeared within a minute," Charlotte smiles while looking at a picture.
"Power of friendship, right?" Avery smirked.
"Yeah. Friendship it is," Charlotte smiles.
"Do you miss them? Prince and Tina?" Avery asks.
"Of course. They helped me and your dad survive our teenage years," Charlotte reminisces some memories.
"Tina's the best friend I thought I'll never have," Charlotte tears up.
"Do you still love her?" Avery asks as he hands her tissue.
"How did you know?" Charlotte is surprised.
"It's just how you talk about her. You smile when you say or hear her name," Avery explains.
"Is that so?" Charlotte smirks.
"How about you? I heard that you were talking to some girl earlier. Who was she?" Charlotte chuckles.
"Oh, that. That was just my friend from school. Her name's Cassandra. We call her Cassie," Avery noted.
"Is she just a friend for you?" Charlotte teases Avery.
"Yeah. She is. I swear. And again nerdy girls aren't my type," Avery chuckles.
"Whatever you say, kid," Charlotte smiles as she walks toward the garage.
"Hey! Wait! Where you going?" Avery follows her.
The two the drive off to the city to get dessert.
