I heard my phone vibrate, followed by multiple dings; my alarm. I'd gotten into the habit of getting up at 5am just to make sure I looked more than presentable. I went through my morning routine brushing my teeth, doing my skincare, making breakfast, the usual. Then came the fun part: my outfit.
My style had changed dramatically since last year and I'd fallen in love with skirts. College was weird in that way because suddenly I wasn't worried if my toes were out or my shoulders were showing. It was a freedom I never knew I needed but now loved.
I picked out a cute mini skirt that was black with tiny white flowers on it and paired it with a white crop top after checking the weather.
Today was Tuesday, which meant it was my long day of classes. I double checked I had all my books as well as my laptop and put them in my bag. It was almost 8, and I wanted to stop for coffee so I threw on my boots and hurried out the door.
After throwing my bag in the back and plugging my phone into the aux, I decided to listen to the doors on the way to grab coffee.
I got the same thing every morning; a caramel iced latte. Part of the reason I loved going to The Bean Bag was one, the name, and two, the cute boy that knew my order by heart. His name was Corey and he looked like Wyatt from the Fosters. Beachy blonde waves and arms full of tattoos. I fell in love at first sight, not that I'd ever mention it.
Finally it was time for my 8:30am. I took a seat in the middle and waited for my friends to show up.
Since I had a lot of time to kill, I put in my headphones and got out my sketchbook. I had started a page of potential tattoos and continued to add to it. Before I knew it my friends were filling up the seats beside me.
Emerson always came in first, she had her whole morning routine just like me. Minus my bean bag coffee and add Starbucks instead. Her blonde curls were all natural and brightened up the room.
"Hi Emmy!"
I cooed at her, taking out my headphones and catching up quickly.
Noah came in next. He looked like he'd been up all night and was sporting his usual jeans and a hoodie.
They were my best friends, and class was always boring without them.
The lecture filled up, and fell silent, and after about an hour was quickly over.
Emmy had a class right after, so me and Noah went back to his dorm with our downtime.
"Sooo, what happened last night?" I prodded on our walk, pushing on his shoulder before looking up at him. He was over a foot taller than me so I really had to look up at him.
"What do you mean?" He laughed, taking my drink from me and taking a sip. He shrugged his shoulders and adjusted his hoodie. Trying to appear nonchalant, which wasn't fooling me.
"You know what I mean. I know you went out. Anddd I texted you when I got up this morning- no reply. Sooo you must've had a late night." I teased, raising a brow at him while he opened the door to his hall for me.
"Listen, I'll have to tell you later. It was... something. And there's a guy in my room."
"A guy, who?" I asked, and got no answer as he opened the door to his dorm and led us in. Only to be greeted by the most beautiful boy I'd ever seen on campus- or anywhere for that matter.
