        Chapter 1

In the town of Berly Hills, where Lady Cathrine from the house of Sir Simeon set out to pick Red roses for her dad, she was wearing her multi colored satin floral skirt, a turtle neck black top with a dropping trapezium gold chain which complimented her dark dropping braids. She also had a plain red headtie knotted as a bow around her neck. Her dark skin was popping under the blazing sun and her bulgy brown eyes held on an angel blink making her long dark lashes more beautiful. Every accessory fitted her perfectly and the big hoop earrings and bright red lipstick made her stand out
Passing through Mr Adams garden always with a smile on her face and as she absentmindedly murmured numbers, a strong voice brought her out of her daze "get off my garden skunk head"

Catherine let out a silent giggle as she raised her head to say good morning to the cranky old man. She was definitely used to Mr Adams' swears. He was just a funny old man who had lost his wife a long time ago and hadn't remarried so she always let out her incredible smile, exposing her deep dimple and her perfectly white teeth and waved to him at his farm house which was not far away
"oh pretty lady don't do that, you make it hard to stay mad", the old man said as he laughed and waved back, then turned back to close his wooden window.
Catherine continued to walk down the path till she got to a large Rose tree where she took a small blanket out from inside the picnic basket she had carried along with her. Next, she took out the bread she had gotten from King Solomon's bakery, placed it on a plastic yellow plate, put a butter knife next to it and set it down. She took out two small jars of peanut butter and jelly and set it beside the plate. She also took out a well covered pitcher filled with lemonade and two glasses. She had set it up perfectly, just the way Jon Greg liked it.  Proud of the set up, she did the next thing on her mind while she waited. Picking roses was her favorite thing to do so she picked two sets of roses, one for her dad and one for the perfect picnic set up. When she was happy with her choices, she set the roses meant for the picnic in the middle of the setting then bent over to look how perfect this was.
"Hey damsel, your beauty never fades, I'm sure when you get to heaven one day the lord will wonder what day did he create so much perfection". A certain voice interrupted her thoughts.
She turned around with a wide smile on her lips and jumped up to hug Jon so tight you would think he wouldn't be able to breathe. Jon's hand drop to her waist while her's was placed just at the back of his head.
Jon Greg was indeed one of the most handsome men in Berly Hills. Being the fourth son of Cornell Frey, his always shining brown skin made people wonder how he kept such skin under the harsh weather. His pretty long lashes complimented his small brown eyes which had specks of gold in them. His perfect naturally carved brows, sexy lips and pointed nose complimented his perfect smile. He always had an amazing hair cut that made him look like both a responsible young man and a sexy bad boy all at the same time. He was 6'2 and Catherine almost looked like a midget next to him. His well chiseled body had all the maidens in town flocking him but he only had eyes for Catherine. He and Catherine had been friends since they were nine when they liked to trouble Mr Adams in his old farmhouse. They had been best friends until puberty set in at fourteen for Catherine and Jon started to have feelings. Luckily, he never let it affect their friendship. They had continued to have their picnic date three times a week like they had been doing for 8 years. Little did he know things were about change.
"Looking sharp, Prince Charming" she was beaming at him.
"Compliments are only meant for pretty ladies like you". He smiled at her and both of them kept staring at each other until he leaned in and pressed his lips to her's for few seconds before pulling back.
"I love you Cathy, I've always had and I always will"
If Catherine had been having a drink, she was pretty certain she would have choked on it. Suddenly, the air felt too thin for her so she gestured for him to sit. As soon as they both settled in, Jon poured out the lemonade into glasses for both of them and handed her her own. She was still processing what he had said but she didn't let it show. She took a bite whenever he stretched her his sandwich and giggled when she needed to.
After they were done eating, they sat back to watch the sun set but she couldn't think straight. She cleared her throat, looked deep into his eyes and raised her hand to softly stroke his chin
"I love you Jon, always have and always will." He had started to smile when the next words she said broke him "but we can't be together. We'll always be friends though and then my kids could marry your kids and then..." She knew she was babbling but she couldn't help herself.
Jon sat there, startled, not believing what she was saying. He pulled her up and held her close. Her face was dropped because she couldn't face the fact that she was throwing all she wanted away. Jon stood taping his feet unconsciously with tears in his eyes. He started to pace around and kept talking
"Setting our kids up shouldn't be a topic. We should be having kids together. We should be a family. I love you Cathy and you love me too. I don't understand what the problem is. Whatever you're scared of, we can always work through it together."
Catherine furiously tried to wipe the tears in her eyes and struggled to explain how the situation didn't need a solution. She kept on muttering apologises but since Jon couldn't take it, he walked out on her. Heartbroken, she fell back on the mat and cried her heart out. Realizing it was getting too late to be out alone, she placed everything back in the basket, cleaned her face with the hem of her skirt and walked home.
