Your POV

6:30am

I can't believe it's actually my last first day of high school. They weren't kidding when they say time flies. However I would like to know who made up the saying "high school is gonna be the greatest four years of your life" so that I can write a strongly worded letter explaining why it is in fact the exact opposite of the "greatest". My high school experience was a lot different from the rest of my graduating class. In the tenth grade my mother passed away and I had to move back in with my father. He is a great father, but he's never home because of work. My parents were both doctors, my mother was an oncologist or cancer doctor, and my father was an anesthesiologist. Sure I was given anything I ever wanted materially speaking, but what I really wanted was attention from my parents. They got divorced when I was 8 and my mom received custody of me. Luckily Lillian, my nanny from my mom's house, stayed with me at my father's after mom passed and practically raised me while my dad was at the hospital.

I got out of bed and brushed my teeth and hair, washed my face, and put on some makeup. I brushed my hair into a half up half down style and put on my school uniform which consisted of a plaid skort in our school colours blue and yellow, a sweater with a collared shirt and tie underneath, as well as white knee high socks and Mary Jane shoes. I actually didn't mind the uniform, it was better than choosing what to wear everyday. I grabbed my AirPods, charger, a book to read at lunch and stuffed them into my backpack which already had a notebook and pencil case in it. I went downstairs to grab breakfast. "Good morning sweetie," says Lillian. I smile and say "Good morning Lil!" She knows I keep to myself most of the time and respects that. I choose a granola bar for breakfast and grab my Scooby- Doo lunchbox from the fridge. I get my keys and start my car. My dad bought me a red 1971 Mustang GT500 for my 16th birthday and I'm in love with it.

After I get to school and find a parking spot. I get out of my car and see a tall boy with blonde hair walking away from a group of boys and over to me. "Hey, you're y/n right? I love your car dude." says the blonde boy. "Yes, I am and thank you..." "I'm Cooper, sorry I should have said that. Do you skate?" he says pointing at the board in my front seat. "Yessir, I'm assuming you do as well?" I say noticing the board sticking out of his backpack. "Yes ma'am. We should go to the park some time!" I nod and he says "Oh shit they're waiting for me. Find us in the cafeteria at lunch okay?""Sure." I say as he runs back toward his buddies. I've known Cooper Schulz since I was in grade school but we've never really spoken to each other at San Diego Prep.  There's only about 500 students here because it's a private school with a hefty tuition, so everyone at least knew of everybody.

I walk into the building and find my locker, grab my books for homeroom and headed to room 106. My first class is Advanced Chemistry so it should be alright. I walk in and see Mr. Klein , the designated teacher at our school for all things chemistry and I've already had him twice and gotten A's in his other classes. "Good morning Mr. Klein!" I say politely. "Good morning y/n, how was your summer?" "I went to visit my cousins in Portugal, and as you can see I was on the beach for pretty much the whole time" I say looking down at my insanely tanned legs. "I'm glad you had a good time n/n. Pick a seat anywhere you'd like." I sit at the front of the class like always and watch the clock tick. I just couldn't stop thinking about lunch with Cooper and his friends. Could they potentially be my friends too?
