FIONA's POV
"Studying is not Louis' thing as you might have noticed, he has been recognized in the schools he attended and is literally worshipped so he used that to his advantage for homework and stuff.
While most of the rich kids like me bully our way through, Louis, on the contrary, makes friends with them and use them" she quickly explained and paused to look at my surprised expression which I tried to mask with my indifference.
"Louis came here because the smartest girl in his old school allowed his company to get to her head so when her grades went down the drain he left" Susan continued
"When he got here he immediately asked for the smartest kid and his attitude towards her changed, that's Louis for you.
We have a year for high school and we will all do what it takes to get good grades... Don't be sad, at least you get to be used by Louis Walter, most of us here don't even have a chance" I was confused whether to trust her or not.
We shared a moment of silence, I don't know why my heart felt broken after hearing what Susan said.
"Why would I care so much about what he thinks of me?" I asked myself internally.
"Awwn... did you really think he likes you? His friends are the biggest playboys in Dian high school so he might have learned a trick or two" she giggled and sighed softly at the end.
I bowed my head, unable to think properly and look at her face. I was attached to the chair for some time. I could see Susan waving someone probably far away but I couldn't care less.
I turned shortly when someone slipped into the seat beside me.
"Hello Fiona... what is Suzy doing here?" he glared at her
"Louis, what are you doing here?" his eyes widened as he stared at me but he quickly masked it with a smile.
.
"I came to check on you, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied without looking at him.
"Did Suzy tell you anything?"
"Nothing important" I mumbled.
"Yeah... girl stuff you won't understand" she smiled at him. Louis answered with a nod and I felt his intense gaze from my side which made me feel more uncomfortable.
Susan parted her lips to say something but Louis spoke first
"Oh! That reminds me, soccer training will soon begin for the upcoming competition. Recruiting of cheerleaders is still on right?" he turned to Susan then to me
"Hey, would you like to join? I'd be playing so it will be nice to see you cheering for me... I mean for us" Louis quickly corrected followed by a short laugh.
"I-I'm not interested" I shook my head looking at my laced fingers on the table.
"Oh, never mind... it's okay, I understand" his excited tone disappeared.
"Don't worry Louis, you know you can always count on your number one cheerleader" she winked and he darted his eyes shortly.
We were engulfed in silence but Susan broke it after a while.
"Hey, Louis, you have history class next right?" He shrugged then turned to me like he wanted me to confirm but I didn't react.
"Have you done your homework?" Susan asked with a smirk Louis' eyebrows creased and he looked lost for a second
"I don't think so, did you do yours?" he asked her and she shook her head.
"Nevermind, I'd do mine in class" he folded his hands at the back of his head with a relaxed smile. My eyebrows furrowed and I took a deep breath before returning to my normal look.
I could have stumped out of this place but I sat close to the wall so there was nothing I could do. Louis was blocking my escape path and I wished I could jump over the table or just kick him out but I didn't wear my hose today.
"It's almost time, goodbye you two" Susan waved with a smile before taking her leave.
"Finally she's gone" he exhaled and turned to me with a grin but I didn't spare him a glance and it soon faded away.
"Fiona... what's wrong?" Louis placed his hand on my laced fingers but I gently pulled it away.
"Nothing, you should go back to your friends" I replied instantly. He studied my face for some time but I made sure he got nothing out of it.
"Oh... is someone jealous?" he smirked and nudged my side with his elbow then I moved a little.
"Who made you mad? C'mon tell me, I need your smiling face back, you look more beautiful when you smile" Louis smiled and laid his head on the table to see my bowed face better.
I couldn't believe he was faking all this, it made my heart ache worse, I'm the last person who wants to believe Susan but all her facts were true and I have to remember I don't fit in the human environment.
"Please excuse me... I want to go" I said almost in a whisper.
"Where are you going? I hope you don't mind if I tag along?"
I was not in the mood for his childish games so I answered "I'm going to class"
"Cool, let's go!" Louis stood up gesturing to me to move first before he followed.
Suzy was right, during classes he would either be whispering to me or his friends, drawing on his note or humming a song and when it's time for classwork he would tell me that he didn't understand anything and I should help him.
I reluctantly helped him till the day was over. When the bell jiggled Louis was involved in a conversation with a group of guys then I grabbed my bag and made my way to the door without him noticing.
My mind was occupied with so many thoughts, I couldn't wait to go home and clear my head. As I was descending the stairs with the crowd of people I felt a tight grip on my hand and I turned.
"What do you want again? It's closing time already" I exhaled deeply.
Louis pulled me away from the crowd to the edge of the stairs where it was less busy. I stared at him with my arms crossed as I waited for him to speak, a small grin appeared on his face but vanished quickly as I didn't react then he cleared his throat
"Soccer practice is starting now... I-I was wondering if you... changed your mind about joining the cheerleaders"
