Chapter 3: What Happens When You Combine a Pissed-Off Teen and Fire?

Favorite part of this was actually when I showed this to my sister, and she replied to the question, "an arsonist". Not exactly what I had in mind, but on with the show!

If you could see my day on a scale from 'hellhole' to 'just like heaven'; the day would be a hellhole. Everyone keeps talking about what happened this morning with Liam, and Ava only helped fuel the fire, everyone now keeps at least ten feet away from me, always looking at me in disdain, anger, or fear.

Well, except for a select few, Cora is a given, she wouldn't leave me out to dry. But also my two other friends, Katelyn, and Jax. While Cora and I are more on the nerdy creative side, Kate and Jax are full-on performing arts. Jax is a musician and a dancer; Kate does musical theatre, so she is the complete package. But all of us are still nerds that don't have much in this school but each other.

But anyway, after English was Math then Theatre, both of which had someone trying to lose my temper, but at least Jax and Kate were there to stop me. Now of course is that fun part of the day, lunchtime. Where everyone gets to hang out with friends, and also when you're more vulnerable to tyranny. Especially when most of the tyrants are in the same room.

Walking in to see Liam and Ava isn't a pretty sight, especially when they have their support system, the two main offenders here, Connor and Emily. Connor is somewhat like Mason but still has some brain in his head. While Emily is the Gretchin Weiners when it comes to her relationship with Ava. Nevertheless, I manage to make it out unscathed to a table in the back with Cora, Jax, and Kate.

"So, how's the day going so far?" Jax asks, Cora slaps him on the arm as I start to rub my eyes.

"Wrong time, wrong place J," Kate says, glaring at him.

"Sorry just, Dawn if you want to get something off of your chest your ok to do it," Jax said reaching out to touch my hand. But then immediately recoil when he makes contact. "Did you get sunburned over the summer?"

"No, my hands are fine, and your the second to do this, my skin isn't that hot!" I say touching my skin, without it burning, not even the slightest sting. "But, yea I do want to vent" they all turn to me, concerned yet intrigued.

"I don't even know why this is happening, all I want to do this year is finish some of my graduation credit, and overall not have anything drastic happen, but it seems like life just wants to throw everything I want out of the window," I exclaim, my head lowering to the table, my chin resting on it. "Why did this have to happen? Why is this happening to me?"

"Because of what you are," a voice resonates from behind us, rolling my eyes I turn to see their Majesties in all their glory.

"Ava, glad to see you here in one piece, how was the Dean's office?" Cora asks smirking at them. But she gets ignored as Ava stares at me as if looking into my soul.

"Did you honestly think that what you've done in years past has gone forgotten?" Ava snaps her fingers as Jax, Kate, and Cora get pulled to their feet, and away from me. "What any of you did?" Ava steps closer to me, I feel my heart beating hard in my chest as if trapped in a cage and trying to get out.

"You thought you could come here and undermine my power, to undermine the system in place? This is what keeps the school functioning, knowing that there is a way of things around here," she smirks as my friends are being handled, as if ready for command.

"A system?" I ask her. "A system where you just happen to be at the top?" her smirk falls as I get pushed up against the wall.

"Now you listen, you little b*tch, I told you then that I would make your life a living hell, and now it's time to start," Ava's smirk returns, as she snaps her fingers, and the torture begins, my friends being slapped and pushed, kicked and punched. I try to drown out the sound, but it keeps coming back.
