How We Met

June 11

Owen

Location: Petalburg City

I can't believe that time passed by real fast. It was June 7 when I escaped. Now, it's June 11. I've been living well, eating whatever I could find, like berries, or buy food, and being really careful not to stay in one town for long. Why?

Let's just say Pete, my stepdad, probably found out by now that I ran away. And he put wanted posters of me all over the regions. But I have absolutely no interest going back to him. He's been such a jerk to me and my mother after she married him. He caused so much harm that my mother committed suicide. He wasn't done after that. He started abusing me and used me for his poker funds. I put on my pair of blue and black headphones—One of the last things that were from my parents—and started to walk until a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me into a dark alleyway.

Raina

Location: Petalburg City

Four days...Raina was amazed at how those days passed by. She stopped at the forest near her old house in Littleroot Town and caught a pink Dragonair who was the child of her mother's Dragonite. I don't want to fully evolve, The shy Dragon-Type told her. Is that okay with you? Raina agreed without any argument and caught the Dragon Pokemon sucessfully.

Raina was walking the streets of Petalburg City with Riolu on her shoulder when she heard a loud noise come from a dark alleyway. She quickly slipped inside to see what happened. She gasped.

A boy around her age was pinned against the wall by a man with a beer bottle in his hand. An Aron, who Raina thought was the boy's Pokemon, was as injured as its Trainer.

"I finally found you," The man snarled. "Can't wait to give you back for some big bucks." Even though the boy was pinned, he scoffed. "Don't even think about it." The man sneered, as he raised his glass bottle up to hit the boy.

Raina ran out of her hiding spot. "Hey!" The boy's eyes widened at the sight of her as the man quickly changed his aim and threw the empty bottle at her. Raina ducked, running up at him and low sweeping him. Raina learned how to fight back at the orphanage. There, it was beat up, or get  beaten up. Raina punched the man in the face, and then knocked him out with a kick where the sun doesn't shine. She then walked up to the boy and held her hand out to him. The boy looked at her with his ocean blue eyes.

Owen

Location:Petalburg City

Owen looked at the held out hand, and then the girl. What did she want from him? He looked at her again. She had long black hair in a ponytail and fire red eyes. A Riolu was on her shoulder, curiously looking at him.

Owen must have been staring at her because the girl huffed and then muttered, "You going to get up or not?" He nodded, grabbing her hand, and getting up. He returned Aron into its Poke Ball. "Get some rest, buddy," Owen turned to the girl. "Thanks."

The girl smiled. "No problem. But..." She stared at him with concern. "What was that?" Owen sighed. "Some guy who wants to bring me back to my stepdad. But I have no interest going back to him. That guy made my life hell," He looked at her. "What about you?"

The girl sighed. "My mom was killed when I was five by this man who wanted me. I lived in an orphanage in Slateport for five years until I had enough and I'm traveling and trying to find my father as well," She smiled at him. "My name's Raina. Yours?"

Owen grinned. "Owen. Nice to meet you, Rain." Raina blushed. "I haven't heard that nickname in a while." Owen laughed. "Well, now you're gonna hear it more often," He looked at her. "Do you want to...y'know, travel with me?"

Raina grinned back. "Of course, why not? Now..." She grabbed his hand. "Let's go!" Both of them started to run. From the dark...to into the light.

Hey there, everyone!

So we see how Raina and Owen meet and start to travel together as friends. If you haven't noticed or not have known when it's Raina's point of view, what's in italics at the beginning is Raina writing an account in her journal.

Next Chapter: Raina's birthday is today, but Owen's keeping a secret from her. What's his surprise? You'll also get to meet a new person, but this guy will be fading in and out. He's a very important character in The Legend Begins!
