It's been over 5 months since I went to that horrible party but the memory was burned into my mind and I vowed to never attend another high school party. At school Amelia had joined and somehow both of us became close friends and she now hangs around with me, Jay and his friends.
I remember we were at school and I saw her crying in the toilets. "What's wrong?" I forced myself to ask.
"Anastasia, I hate that stupid fat cow!" She said, starting to cry.
"That's not nice and what did she do?"
"That stupid idiot she started making up stupid rumours about me that I won't tell you because you don't know and there's no point telling you, anyways no one will talk to me because of her why do these losers look up to her like she's some kind of queen?"
"I don't know, they're crazy." I said, laughing at her expression. She looked at me with surprise and gave me a chance and we became friends. Her harsh honesty went well with my kindness. We kind of balance each other out.
If only Emma was here to see us, she went away to Scotland to marry her boyfriend, she looks so young but she's actually 24. She said that she'll be coming back in a month or two.
We were on the Christmas holidays, this was going to be the first Christmas without Dave. I remember the first Christmas with him. He bought me an art set that I never used and he dressed up as Santa Claus waking me up in the middle of the night leaving me terrified and then in a laughing fit. I no longer cried when I thought of him instead I would just laugh if it was a funny memory or I'd just accept the fact that he was never coming back. That's the sad thing you never really realise just how important it is to have someone in your life till they are gone and it's too late.
I was at my dresser table,.looking into the mirror, brushing my mousy brown hair. I think I want to dye it, I never liked the mousy brown colour and it was about time for some change but I didn't know what colour to dye it. I guess I could just ask Jay later, in the past 3 months he has dyed his hair dark green, dark blue, red, purple and decided none of the colours suited him so he went back to black. I was afraid that his hair would fall out soon due to him dying it so much but he didn't seem to care. That's what I liked so much about him, he was so carefree.
My phone rings and I see Jay's picture dancing on my screen. I let it ring for a while before answering it. "Hello?"
"Lynny?"
"That's my name, don't wear it out." I joke.
"Whatever." He says with pretense annoyance.
"Stop being so moody and what do you want?" I say, realising that Amelia's influence was rubbing off on me.
"I was thinking that we should...." he stops talking trying to make it suspenseful. I decide to annoy him by not saying anything.
He sounds annoyed "you were meant to be begging me to keep talking anyways I was thinking about meeting up at the park."
"It's freezing but yes we should, I miss that park and we haven't met up there for ages."
"Will you really come?" He asks disbelievingly.
"Have I ever lied to you before... wait actually forget that, I promise I'll be there."
"Good and I'm here at the park, if you're wondering."
"I kind of guessed already, Jay."
"How?"
"I just know, anyways I'll be there in like half an hour, OK?"
"OK, bye."
"Bye." I say. I don't want to be late so I put on a cozy purple top and jeans. I grab the little box on my bedside table and put it into my bag, it's a present for Jay.
