You smiled to yourself, your fists rested proudly on your hips as you looked up at your new home.

It was quaint and big enough for two people, despite you living alone. This was just in case your dear friend, Wang Shu, decided to stay over.

Her family still hadn't gotten used to her insomnia, so there were several occasions where she would have to stay at your home for a few nights.

You had recently returned from a far off village after two years of being away, and the only available house was a rickety abandoned home a little far from Chengtang Pass.

You, being the stubborn person you were, insisted on fixing it without any help. Now that you look back on it, that was kind of stupid.

An embarrassed chuckle escaped your lips, you could feel heat grow on your face.

Grrrrr

Your silly laugh was interrupted by your own groan.

You grabbed at your stomach in mild pain.

You may or may not have forgotten the importance of food. Well, the house had to be finished more sooner than later! How could anyone blame you?!

"Wang Shu!" You called out, keeping one hand on your stomach as if it would calm the hunger growing within you.

After a hot minute, your friend lazily trudged out, leaning against the door frame.

"What is it now, you crazy?" She sighed, rubbing her eyes, heavy with the darkest bags you had ever seen in your life.

You waved it off, "I'm on my way to Chengtang Pass to eat. I'm not bringing any left overs, so you might want to come with me." You spoke as you walked away.

"Ughh! Why are you so cruel?!" Wang Shu whined, dramatically throwing her self against a wooden pillar by the door.

"I'm hungry."

And with that, you raced off to Chengtang Pass with a screeching Wang Shu running after you.

You laughed at Wang Shu as you refreshed her memory on the night before. "Stop it already, woman!" She grunted, covering her head with her hands as she kept her head low on the counter.

You held your aching stomach, "You were so sleepy, you -snort- tried to keep the eggs warm like a chicken!" You guffawed, the people around you gave small chuckles of amusement as you shouted.

"Hey! One must always prepare themselves for the sudden role of parenthood. Human or not, I will take in a child when a motherly role is required!" Wang Shu argued, pointing her finger up in a matter-of-fact motion.

You snorted at that, finally calm once more, "Don't pull my leg! Not even your little sister believes you can be a good mother! I sometimes wonder why I made you the godmother of my future children." You rolled your eyes playfully.
